Microvitum

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Microvitum is a philosophy of life being promoted by Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar. Microvita is a unified field philosophy that attempts to explain the origin and development of life. The concept of microvita attempts to explain phenomena such as how life travels through the universe faster than the speed of light, how a single cell can replicate into a complex organism, or how a genius acquires superconscious skills.

The word microvitum means “small or microscopic life form.” Microvita is the plural of microvitum. Microvita as said to so small that they cannot be observed using the scientific method.

[edit] The nature of microvita

In Tantra, the universe begins as pure consciousness; the universe evolves out of the consciousness of the Cosmic Mind. In brief, the universe is like a dream in the Cosmic Mind; everything is created out of the ectoplasm or mind stuff of the cosmic mind. Microvita is the initial stage in the creation of matter. In the evolution from consciousness to matter, microvita bridges the gap between idea (in the Cosmic Mind) to matter.

Atoms are described as condensed and crudified microvita. So atoms are primarily matter with very little consciousness (or idea). Whereas, microvita are composed more of idea and less of matter. If atoms are powdered down, then microvita are produced. If microvita could be powdered down, the result would be idea. Microvita can be transmuted suddenly into matter, and matter can be transmuted into microvita. Or it can be said that microvita is a very subtle form of matter.

Pure consciousness is hypothesized to be the smallest entity that can be imagined, and microvitum are not as small as pure consciousness or as small as a human thought forms, but are said to be smaller than an electron. An electron is itself a small physical entity, a hypothetical statistical cloud around an atom. Microvita are of a different order than electrons or ectoplasm.

The consequence of the nature of microvita is that microvita cannot be proven or disproven, making the concept of microvita a purely philosophical concept.

The microvitum philosophy attempts to bridge the gap between inorganic substance and conscious life.

Note that the Tantra taught by P.R. Sarkar is not the left handed variety of Tantra which non-dualistically embraces the positive view of the entire universe such as it is, including the mind, and the body with sacred sexuality to empower spiritual attainment.

[edit] Three types of microvita

There are three types of microvita. The first type can be seen with a microscope and is referred to as a “virus.” Sarkar prefers the more general class term of microvitum, which better describes the function and meaning of a virus. The second type of microvita is known to us because of the effects they produce in the physical world, even though we cannot see or measure them directly. The third type of virus or microvita can only be seen and understood philosophically.

The third type of microvita are said to be known only by persons with highly evolved, spiritually-oriented minds. The effects of these microvita are small and are not measured by their direct effects on the physical world. They are more apparent as ideas and subtle thought forms that are not readily seen or recognized by the undeveloped mind, even though they may have a pervasive and controlling effect on people by indirect means.

Sarkar describes the movements of microvita. “Now, these microvita move throughout the entire universe, from one celestial body to another. They move everywhere, crossing the boundaries of nebulae, piercing through milky ways, galaxies, stars, satellites, planets and meteors.” (Chapter 1: Microvitum -- The mysterious emanation of cosmic factor) This is how life has spread through the universe and reached the earth; not by a random evolution of a primordial soup. Microvita are said to have primitive minds that participate in organizing carbon molecules into living beings.

Microvita are said to exist, multiply, and die. Both positive and negative microvita move through subtle media, such as the five senses (smell, taste, visual forms, touch, sounds), and the most subtle microvita move through the media of ideas. For example, Sarkar states that certain ocular diseases are spread through sight, such as by looking at the eyes of a diseased person. Cholera, skin diseases, and laryngitis are spread by the smell of the disease. Mental disorders are often spread by the smell, such as the smell of alcohol in a bar. Small pox and influenza move through all the five senses or “inferences,” especially taste, color, and smell. Inferences (tanmatras) mean the media through which the senses operate, such as taste and smell particles, light forms, pressure, and sound waves.

Just like germs, microvita can be positive (friendly), negative (inimical), or neutral. Highly developed human beings can develop and spread their ideas over the entire planet and out into the universe via the five senses and by ideas alone. Crude and selfish individuals can also create negative microvita that spread and infect others.

The tanmatras (inferences) are associated with the first five cakras: 1. smell, 2. taste, 3. sight, 4. touch (pressure), and 5. sound. Negative microvita often prefer the lower smell tanmatra, and positive microvita prefer the higher sound tanmatra. Negative microvita can spread physical and mental diseases through the universe, and positive microvita can spread sentient and elevating sentiments.

The value of these microvita is, according to Sarkar, that many problems in every area of human endeavor can be solved by extensive research into the application of microvita. In other words, the next great leap forward in science will come from this device and extension of human science, beyond particle theory and quantum physics into the mysterious realm where conscious ideas and physicality are interconnected and blurred.

One problem with the concept of microvita is that microvita are usually dealt with in Sarkar’s book as very tiny entities, between the electron and ectoplasm. However, he also claims that viruses are microvita. It is unclear how something as tiny as a living thought could also be a strand of RNA under a microscope.

Note that positive microvita eat negative microvita, and negative microvita eat positive microvita. The type of microvita that is in excess is likely to prevail.

[edit] Seven types of devayoniis (positive microvita)

Devayonii means “an entity which has a number of divine qualities” or a positive microvita. Of the seven types of microvita below, all can be positive, and some are negative. The name, devayonii, is still used to describe all of them. These microvita species gives some indication of the variety and types of positive and negative microvita.

In ancient times, the sages of India described seven species or groups of entities (devayoiis) which fit Sarkar’s description of positive microvita: yaksa, gandhara, vigyadhara, kinnara, siddha, prakrtillina, and videhaliina. Each of these seven species describes a large collection or variety of different microvitum. Devayoiis is not an inclusive list of all the categories of positive microvita.

Hence, the basic concept of microvita is not new but has a history. Certain subtle types of microvita were described in India as devayoniis in the distant past. Devayonii is a name for a specific group of microvita, although this term (devayonii) is not nearly as comprehensive as the term microvita.

Microvita can come to an individual and influence his or her mind in crude and subtle ways. When organized into a devayonii, these microvita are like intelligent beings that move about the universe. Devayoniis are primarily collections of species of microvita, but they are also disembodied souls who were spiritually evolved but retain some samskara that results in them becoming devayonii. These function loosely in the manner of ghosts, and they may be luminous. Devayoniis are not ghosts in the sense of the souls of dead people who haunt the earth on their on volition, which is not possible in Tantra philosophy. Devayoniis are exceptional individuals who developed spiritually but fell short by some defect. After they exhaust some of their samskara (karma), they are reborn.

When a person dies and becomes a devayonii, the ethereal (aether), aerial (air), and luminous (sight) factors of their material body are not lost but form the body of the devayonii, leaving behind on the earth the solid and liquid factors of the body. These three factors, plus the person’s mind and samskara (latent karma) combine to form the devayonii.

Yaks’a. The yaks’a microvita are a collection of microvita that cause a specific effect. When attacked by the yaksa microvita, individuals develop insatiable greed and an intense desire to acquire wealth. This is a crude type of microvita.

Gandharva. The group of microvita known as gandharva microvita create a love for fine arts, especially music and dance. Musicians and dancers will unconsciously (or consciously) cultivate a number of these microvita and become intoxicated by rhythm, movement, and melody. These microvita indulge the mind in subtle ideation and are generally positive and friendly in nature.

Kinnara. The collective group of kinnara microvita arouse a thirst for beauty and decoration. Kinnara means “receptacle of beauty” or “a beautiful and graceful structure.” These microvita incline a person to beautifying the human body. They can be either a friend or enemy microvita (positive or negative) and lead the mind toward either subtle or crude thinking.

Vidya’dhara. The category known as vidya’dhara create a desire to attain virtues and good qualities of character and intellectual attainment. Individuals who come into contact with friend (positive) vidya’dhara microvita are inspired to perform noble deeds that promote the welfare of human society and become intellectuals. The negative (enemy) vidya’dhara microvita arouse the mind to seek crude material gain though fame and power.

Prakrtiliina. The prakrtiliina category describes a group of negative microvita that compel a person indulge themselves in crude pleasures. These people avoid good company and rapidly become crude, negative, and dogmatic. Their spiritual propensities are negligible. An example of the positive form of prakrtiliina are people who worship idols may become objects, such as wood or stone. However, they still desire the spiritual path and assist spiritualists.

Videhaliina. This category of microvita is unusual and reminiscent of the manic mental disorder. Videhaliina microvita create a desire to run from one place to another, as if seeking something but only going in circles. The mind becomes restless and confused and the person loses a sense of the purpose of life. As positive microvita, they seek liberation but complain about and are distracted by their misfortunes. They constantly beseech God for emancipation to escape their woes.

Siddha. This collective microvita initiates spiritual longing. The human mind moves toward mystical and spiritual experiences. The individual wants a more universal knowledge and enlightenment. Unlike other types of microvita, this variety of microvita cannot be created or directed by even enlightened men and women. They emanate from and are directed by the Cosmic Mind.

Sometimes people acquire occult powers in the spiritual path and deviate from dharma (spiritual path) because their occult powers (siddhis) become more important than the spiritual path. These individuals become siddha after death. Still, they are the best and most useful of all the devayoniis. They may function as aids or guardians. They are known to have initiated certain great spiritualists in the past who had no Guru. These great personalities were instructed in spiritual practices by siddha devayoniis.

So even the highest of the devayonii were created by a defect of character in a human being. They are forced to live out a half-alive existence, drug down by a great mantle of microvita, whether it be positive or negative microvita, and then they are reborn again as a living being.

[edit] Seven types of pretayoniis (negative microvita)

As with devayoiis, there are seven types of pretayoniis: durmukha, kabandha, madhyakapa'la, maha'k,apa'la, brahmadaetya or brahmapisha'ca, a'ka'shiipreta, and pishaca. Pretayoniis are disembodied souls, but they are more a collection of negative microvita than operational minds. When people live an evil life, they become pretayoniis after death. After they exhaust some of their samskara (karma), they are reborn, but only after a very long time. This list, although not inclusive, is useful in identifying some of the possible types of negative microvita.

The influence of microvita is so pervasive that many phenomena can be explained by their presence or absence, as this list of pretayoniis helps illustrates. An interesting aspect of pretayoniis occurs by comparison with devayoniis. Devayoniis are spiritually evolved persons who have a specific defect, and the same may be true of pretayoniis. Avidya tantrics may become spiritually evolved by their intense practice of evil techniques and so perhaps become pretayoniis for reasons similar to devayoniis. Avidya tantrics are spiritual practitioners who practice “left hand,” evil techniques (like black witches), while vidya tantrics practice “right-hand” good techniques.

Durmukha. People who, for a variety of reasons, cause mental disturbance to others, continue to do so as pretayoniis after their death.

Kabandha. People who commit suicide for negative reasons (e.g., anger, greed, jealousy) will incite others to commit suicide as pretayoniis.

Madhyakapa'la. This microvita causes mental restlessness and lack of stability.

Maha'kapa'la. These individuals appear to be humanistic while satisfying their own selfish interests. They may create lethal weapons that kill millions of innocent victims. After death, they keep trying to destroy the living.

Brahmadaetya or Brahmapisha'ca. These people try to suppress and control others by intellectual methods, creating inferiority complexes in others.

A'ka'shiipreta. By various crimes and destructive activities, these individuals fulfill their ambitions.

Pishaca. These individuals see others as objects of enjoyment, without considering the needs of others.

[edit] The types of gandhayaks’inii (intermediate microvita)

The gandhayaks’inii microvita are both positive and negative but not destructive. They are an intermediate type of microvita, between positive and negative microvita. They do not divert the sadhaka from the spiritual path (dharma), but the spiritual path becomes secondary to material concerns.

Yaks’inii. This microvita is similar to a yaks’a microvita (described above), and it can be described as an intermediate microvita. This type of person collects money for a good cause and they are not bad people; however, collecting money becomes more important to them than the good cause. They do not forget the spiritual path but it becomes secondary; they make a selfish adjustment to material life.

Other Types. Another expression of the gandhayaks’inii microvita is when a person suffers some loss, but the loss results in some positive result. A person misses their airplane but the plane crashes; or they are late for their meeting, but the meeting starts late.

Gandharukmin’ii. This is a positive microvita that moves a person from a negative to a positive spiritual state, so it has an intermediate flavor about it. Rukmin’ii was Krs’n’a’s (Krishna’s) wife. People who met her would experience a quickening of their spiritual lives. This positive microvita make individuals suddenly give up material interests in pursuit of the spiritual path.

[edit] The physics of life

The current theory of the origin of life is that life evolves from the carbon atom and molecule. The carbon molecule is certainly the basis of every protoplasmic structure (structures composed of living cells). However, according to Sarkar, carbon molecules and atoms are formed from the compression of microvita and hence precede carbon atoms.

In physics, various entities have been declared (historically) to be the minutest particles of matter: molecules, atoms, protons, electrons, and other particles. Ultimately, microvita will be declared to be the minutest entity. Microvita do not have an internal structure, like an atom. Sarkar states that microvita are more energy than matter, and microvita are able to travel though inferences (taste, smell, sight, touch, and sound).

Carbon atoms require space in theory and practice. Microvita require space only in theory but not in physical space. Microvita occupy ethereal space (the most subtle physical sphere). Ether (or aether) was once supposed to be the media through which light waves propagated. Microvita also occupy more subtle, psychic (mental) space, and supra-psychic space, but not the spiritual space. Supra-psychic space refers to the lining between the spiritual and psychic (mental) realms, or the most subtle psychic space.

When billions of microvita are solidified or crudified, atoms are formed. (When millions of microvita are solidified, an electron is formed: unconfirmed private discussion) Another way to understand this process is that the universe started with pure consciousness that gradually evolved by a process of crudification into physical matter. Microvita are like a bridge between consciousness and atomic elements (electrons, nuclei, etc.). The result is that when atoms are formed, they have an element of crude consciousness. In that sense, everything in the physical universe has some form of consciousness, even if the consciousness is barely detectable. And every living form has a mind, even if barely functional.

Sarkar states that “Some intellectuals are of the opinion that matter is bottled-up energy. No, matter is not bottled-up energy.” (Chapter 35: Matter and abstract) Instead, Sarkar believes that the atom stores or shelters energy; the destruction of the shelter, the atom, releases the energy contained within the atom. Sarkar states that this is a one-way energy release. This seems to be at variance with modern physics. Sarkar is hinting at subtle distinctions, which physicists can ponder over, that have implications for microvita research.

He states that sun rays are light energy and can be converted to other forms of energy: electrical, sound, and magnetic. He locates both energy and microvita on the line between matter and energy. Energy, like microvita, can sometimes be perceived by the senses, but subtle forms of energy cannot be perceived by the senses but are discriminated by “conception.”

Sarkar refers to a special type of perception required to understand the third and most subtle type of microvita as “the reflection of conception within the periphery of perception.” (Chapter 1: Microvitum -- The mysterious emanation of cosmic factor) The third type of microvita cannot be seen under a microscope or discovered by its effects in the physical world. In other words, we have special senses that go beyond the ordinary and function at the most remote edge (periphery) of our understanding and perception. We can imagine or conceive of a subtle thing that has both physical and psychic properties (microvita) that cannot be seen or registered by ordinary sense organs. We cannot see that entity directly, but by a subtle reflection off that conception, we can perceive the nature of that subtle entity. In other words, we can see it without looking at it directly. This is a subtle way of looking at something invisible and mysterious that cannot be seen by the naked eye directly.

Another way to look at this difficult statement is to imagine looking at a cakra and its mandala (reflecting plate) inside one's body, seeing the samskara (latent karma) and negative microvita within the cakra that need to be cleaned out: a primary objective in meditation is the purification and control of cakras. The imaginary conception of the cakra causes ideas and images from the superconscious mind to reflect off that cakra concept and bring to light some of the discernible characteristics of the cakra.

Sarkar makes the interesting statement: “But the effect of microvita is to be felt - - it cannot be expressed through language, it cannot be shown in the physical level. You must not try to acquire that occult power, but sometimes, by the grace of Parama Purus’a, it appears automatically.” (Chapter 35: Matter and abstract) Presumably, the ability to perceive microvita, either visually or by the feeling they produce (positive or negative) is a special occult power (siddhi). Perhaps this is equivalent to the psychic skill of seeing and feeling the presence of “ghosts.” Sarkar gave a special initiation into microvita meditation, but only a handful of people received this technique; they are not supposed to reveal this process to others, perhaps because it involves an occult technique. Sarkar enjoins sadhakas not to covet occult powers, which often become more important to the spiritual aspirant than the spiritual path.

Energy is active, as are microvita, in both the physical plane and the physio-psychic plane of idea; however, energy is more active and has more strength and influence in the physical plane, and microvita are more active and have more strength and influence in the physico-psychic plane. Negative microvita function better in the physical and physico-psychic strata, and positive microvita are superior in the psychic and psycho-spiritual strata.

Another difference between energy and microvita is that energy is like a blind force without a conscience - energy does not know what it should or should not do. Microvita have a sort of conscience and behave with a type of intelligence. The study of energy is important due to the similarity between microvita and subtle energy (such as vital energy or prana).

Microvita are essential and necessary to life and include both carbonic elements (of the body) and non-carbonic elements (of the mind). Non-carbonic elements include microvita of a psychic (mental) type that elevate the mind. If either of these elements, carbonic or non-carbonic, occur in excess over the other, then dysfunction and disease result.

Even though life is dependent upon the carbon molecules, life originates with microvita. Sarkar remarks that “Naturally, chemistry, biochemistry and all other associated branches of science will undergo a revolutionary change. A day is sure to come when an omega of mathematics will coincide with an omega of biochemistry. All formulae and theories followed up till now will have to be reformulated, redefined and reclassified.” (Chapter 6: Neo-ethics of multilateral salvation)

[edit] Positive and negative microvita

The world can be classified into sentient (sattvic), mutative (rajasic), and static (tamasic). Negative microvita are static in nature, and positive microvita are sentient in nature. The mutative principle (rajasic) is not an attribute or quality but only the transitory phase between sentient and static.

Negative (enemy) microvita spread on their own by natural forces. Negative microvita generally function in the first two chakras (or cakras) of the lower body, the muladhara and svadhisthana cakras. Hence, negative microvita are especially evident in lower reproduction and excretory organs (kidneys, bowels. If these negative microvita are applied to higher level cakras, they function very rapidly and become more dangerous.

Positive (friend) microvita do not spread by natural means; they function only through specially created waves, such as the effects created by meditation and by spiritually evolved individuals. These waves are especially likely to occur in group sadhana (meditation). Sarkar stated, “Positive microvita can only be applied by Parama Purus’a (supreme or pure consciousness), but negative microvita are spread through natural forces…” (Chapter 9: Sadguru and Microvita) ) This seems to mean that spiritually evolved persons can produce positive microvita, but only by their connection with Parama Purus’a. This seemingly obscure statement does not seem to mean that people cannot produce positive microvita, but rather that positive microvita do not enter people naturally according to natural law. Instead, Parama Purus’a becomes involved in this process. (See the discussion on Intelligent Design below).

Intensive applications of positive microvita are dangerous or can cause death. According to Sarkar (exact quote not available), if a Guru was to suddenly confer a high state of enlightenment (krpa or grace) on an ordinary person (by positive microvita), he or she would die immediately. By analogy, if too much current is supplied to a light bulb, the light bulb is burned out. In this case, the person may attain immediate enlightenment, but their death is inevitable.

This is somewhat hypothetical because most people cannot create positive or negative microvita in sufficient quantity or quality to produce ill effects. However, positive microvita are, theoretically, more dangerous if the nerves are weak (or the mind is undeveloped), as in the case of plants and animals, children or women generally, or anyone who is physically, psychically, or spiritually weak. The same is true in a general sense for individuals who are not vegetarians. Men are said to be able to withstand stronger doses of positive and negative microvita than women; however, the positive microvita produced in group meditation have a positive effect on women.

Positive microvita are difficult to apply effectively to criminals or severe sinners. The reason for this is not obvious in the text. Sarkar has stated that sinners may attain enlightenment by a negative but difficult, painful process. Hence, the application of positive microvita might be difficult because criminals may be spiritually evolved in the same sense that a left hand tantric practitioner or “black witch” evolves spiritually. The criminal may have an extreme preponderance of negative microvita that are difficult to displace with positive microvita. Negative microvita are said to be essential for the development of the physical body (and nerves), so the nerves of criminals may be stronger due to negative spiritual practices.

Neutral (ordinary) microvita may affect the kidneys, liver, abdomen, and chest. Neutral microvita tend to be more active at night.

Enemy microvita can be used for negative purposes, and negative microvita can be used for positive purposes. For example, a poison can be used as medication.

Microvita produce an effect as they penetrate the body and mind. If a few negative microvita enter the body or mind, a person will feel uneasy, whereas millions of microvita can cause death. Neutral microvita do not cause any special feeling. When a friend microvita enters the body or mind, a comfortable feeling is produced. Too much of either positive or negative microvita can cause death.

Since microvita are composed of both ectoplasm (mind stuff) and matter, positive microvita can be defined as having more mind than matter, and negative microvita have more matter than mind. Positive microvita start functioning on the mental (psychic) level and move towards the material level, and negative microvita start at the material level and move towards the mind.

In summary, negative microvita move only in the area of physicality and just touch on the psychic (mental) arena but cannot enter the psychic world. Positive microvita move freely in both the physical and psychic arenas and barely touch the border of the spiritual world, but cannot enter the spiritual world. Microvita help indirectly in spiritual matters but other forces must be relied on to move into the spiritual world. Hence, microvita can be understood to some extent without reference to God or Parama Purus’a, but ultimately a researcher must understand to spiritual world to fully appreciate and control microvita.

Balancing microvita. Both negative and positive microvita should always be used towards a positive purpose, not a negative purpose. Further, there must be a balance between positive and negative microvita. The discussion of balancing positive and negative microvita presumes a second and overlapping definition of positive and negative microvita. The definition above concerns enemy (negative) and friend (positive) microvita.

The a’jina’ cakra (6th cakra, lunar plexus) has two portions: apara’ (mundane knowledge) on the right side of the cakra, and para' (spiritual knowledge) on the left side of the cakra. Right and left are here defined as from the viewpoint of the person looking at his own cakras. The apara’ side influences the body below the navel, and the para’ side influences the upper portion of the body. Microvita which benefit the physical and apara’ portion of the body are called negative microvita. The microvita which benefit the psychic and para’ portion of the body are called positive microvita. In this sense, negative microvita are essential to the proper function of the physical body.

If positive microvita are used excessively, there will be a shortage of positive microvita, and the negative microvita on the material plane cannot be properly balanced. This happens when the sadhaka runs after occult powers or if the sadhaka goes to the Himalayan caves to meditate and avoids society and material concerns. The result is that negative microvita are not utilized in the material life, and the negative microvita accumulate, become very strong, and create catastrophes. When negative microvita are used excessively, immorality results because there is an excess of unused positive microvita.

What occurs is that a swarm of millions (or so) of positive or negative microvita invade the cakras, like bees attracted to flowers. They go to work on the vrttis (mental propensities associated with cakras) and or the general functioning of the cakra. The negative microvita with apara’ functions benefit the function of the physical body and physical actions, while the positive microvita with para’ functions enhance the psychic propensities, skills, and active thoughts.

Cakras, as psycho-physical controlling points, must be more crude than microvita, and yet more subtle than most atomic structures. Hence, the cakra must be highly suited to being influenced by microvita.

If positive microvita are used to guide and improve psychic structures, they will get used up by their hard work and die prematurely. If only the positive microvita are used and worked, then the negative microvita are allowed to multiply without doing any work. Being without proper direction, the negative microvita follow their natural, unintelligent course and cause trouble by multiplying and infecting the cakras; negative microvita become dominant and eat the positive microvita. The end result is that the spiritual development of the sadhaka exhausts itself (as positive microvita are exhausted), and his or her mind starts moving toward negative desires.

If negative microvita are used predominantly to guide us in our physical actions and material desires, then the negative microvita get worked to death and die prematurely. The positive microvita pile up and multiply, but they create a problem in immorality, not from being in excess (as with negative microvita) but from being unused.

In either instance, immorality is the end result. Either there is negative influence by excess negative microvita following their natural course, or positive microvita having no influence because they are not used to doing work. Negative microvita will do negative work left to their own devices. But positive microvita are more subtle and require more direction and effort than negative microvita. By their own devices, positive microvita will not accomplish useful, positive work.

[edit] Microvita and cakras

Briefly, the cakras discussed below include the following;

1st. Terrainian plexus at the base of the spine (Mu’ladhar cakra);

2nd. Fluidal plexus between the base and navel (Svadhistana cakra);

3rd. Igneous plexus at the navel (Manipur cakra);

4th. Solar or pneumatic plexus at the heart level (Ana’ha’ta cakra);

5th. Sideral or physico-psychic plexus at the throat (Vishuddha cakra);

6th. Lunar plexus at the level of the eyebrows (Ajina cakra);

Occult plexus just below the pineal gland (Guru cakra);

7th. Macro-propensive plexus at the level of the pineal gland (Sahasrara cakra).

The Guru cakra (just below the 7th cakra) is known as occult plexus. The Guru cakra is not one of the seven primary cakras; it is located just below the Sahasrara (7th) cakra. The Guru cakra and Sahasrara cakra are said to be virtually the same or that the Guru Cakra is the internal side of the Sahasrara cakra. (Yoga Psychology, by Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar, 1991) The plexus contains both the cakra and its reflecting plate, which is generally somewhat larger.

The 7th cakra (at the top of the head near the pineal gland) is known as the macro-propensive-plexus or Sahasrara cakra. Macro-propensive means “activities concerning the propensities for the all-round development of all created beings.”

Positive and negative microvita move through “inferences of the cosmic mind,” meaning that microvita move through taste, smell, sight, touch, and sound. They may also move through ectoplasm or mind stuff. Ectoplasm or mind stuff means the conscious mind as an entity separate from the brain. Ectoplasm may be associated with physicality or spirit. The cruder portion of ectoplasm (associated with physicality) is used as a media for movement by microvita.

Microvita influence the mind and body via cakras. Microvita directly affect the plexii (cakras), which affects the vrttis of the plexii. The vrittis (associated with the petals of the cakras) control mental propensities. By this path, microvita can cause a positive or negative effect on the mind.

When positive microvita enter the body, they begin at the lunar plexus (6th cakra) and move either up or down to higher or lower cakras. During meditation, positive microvita will move up but only as high as the occult plexus (Guru cakra).

Negative microvita are more restricted in their movements. They cannot move above the physico-psychic plexus (5th cakra). Negative microvita may affect the lunar plexus (6th cakra), but only indirectly. A spiritually developed person can move negative microvita to the lunar plexus (6th cakra) but not to the occult plexus (Guru cakra). The process of raising negative microvita to higher cakras is called “rusti” or “risti.” This process can cause severe mental disorders because the negative microvita become more active at higher cakras and damage the brain.

Positive microvita can also be elevated. The highest point at which a positive microvita generally functions is the lunar plexus (6th cakra), although a positive microvita can move to the occult plexus (Guru cakra). Further, a spiritually evolved person can raise positive microvita to the occult plexus (Guru cakra).

Positive microvita also increase their speed as they are raised to the Guru cakra, which causes intellectual development, occult powers, and spiritual development (in both males and females). Raising positive microvita to the occult plexus (Guru cakra) is called “krpa” (grace). Raising positive microvita to the macro-propensive plexus or multi-prepensive plexus (7th cakra) is called “karuna.” To move positive microvita to the multi-prepensive plexus (7th cakra), a person must do spiritual practice and get the help of a spiritually exalted person. Neither positive nor negative microvita can function by themselves in the multi-prepensive cakra.

Positive microvita do not directly cause spiritual development. They do not function directly within the spiritual sphere. Even if positive microvita are raised to the lunar plexus (6th cakra), they do not influence the nerve cells of the brain, which are controlled by the lunar plexus (6th cakra). So positive microvita at the lunar plexus (6th cakra) can cause intellectual development or impart some occult powers, but spiritual development beyond the intellectual requires that a spiritually evolved person impart a special power to the positive microvita, such as by raising positive microvita over the lunar plexus (6th cakra).

Positive and negative microvita influence the plexii (cakras) directly and glands and other parts of the body indirectly through the plexii. Hence, every part of the body, with the exception of the upper layers of the pituitary gland and the pineal gland, are affected by microvita. Generally, negative microvita have no influence, direct or indirect, above the pituitary gland, and positive microvita cannot influence the pineal gland.

From the solar plexus (4th), negative microvita influence the eyes , vocal cords, and hearing. However, negative microvita do not function properly above the igneous plexus (3rd); although they function to some extent up the sideral (5th cakra). Positive microvita function predominantly from the solar (4th) to the lunar (6th) plexii.

When negative microvita prevail over positive microvita, then disease may develop because the negative microvita devour the positive microvita. The negative microvita can be killed by increasing the numbers of positive microvita, which will then eat the negative microvita. Positive microvita are increased by “good thinking” and sadhana (meditation, spiritual practices).

The explanation of how certain people can cure diseases by touch is explained by positive microvita. The healer imparts positive microvita to the sick person, which attacks the diseased person’s negative microvita.

When there is a preponderance in the world of negative microvita, the world degenerates, and when positive microvita are in excess, a spiritual revolution occurs. We are now in a phase of degeneration.

[edit] Problems in understanding microvitum

The author of Microvitum in a Nutshell is rumored to have said that widespread acceptance and research using microvita will not occur for about 200 years. Sarkar explains that “The majority of people today do not know the technique of using microvita.” (Chapter 6: Neo-ethics of Multilateral Salvation) This implies that microvita theory is certainly being used today (by other names) by scientists and people in the arts and other areas of human endeavor, but generally the technique is not widespread due to the difficulty of the technique.

A general problem in understanding Sarkar is that he is a consummate, wide-ranging intellectual. He easily refers to the vast spiritual and philosophical literature of India. His 264 books (written in English, Bengali, and Hindi between 1955 and 1990) are liberally sprinkled with Sanskrit terms and quotations and interpretations of historical events and scripture. A basic understanding of Tantric science is helpful in understanding some of Sarkar’s work; in his more difficult work, even experts have difficulty following Sarkar. Many of his ideas are uniquely original or interpolated with original insights and observations. Many of his ideas can only be understood fully by cross-referencing topics within and across his books. Practically speaking, the philosophy of India is far more complex and intricate than the corresponding Jewish, Muslim, and Christian literature.

Due to the comprehensive nature of Sarkar’s works, he only partially develops or hints at the development of many specific topics and leaves the expansion of these topics to others. Much of his work is oriented toward to purely spiritual arena; hence, topics such as microvita are not as elaborately developed as other aspects of his work. Further, he often writes for readers hundreds or perhaps thousands of years into the future; at times, this can be confusing.

Sarkar gave discourses in a number of languages, including Hindi, Bengali, and English. Consequently, translation problems may be expected occasionally.

Note that Sarkar is, at times, difficult to follow and often difficult to interpret correctly. Sarkar’s theory about microvita is not based solely on academic considerations but is based on Sarkar’s own research and personal experience with microvita. In other words, he is describing what he has experienced while intuitively investigating microvita. Hence, he is explaining a phenomena from the standpoint of someone who understands the actual practice and implementation of microvita research, not from the perspective of someone who is trying to grasp the basic principles of microvita. So much of what Sarkar explains hints at volumes of unexplained principles and concepts.

Another reason for the difficulty in implementing microvita theory is hinted at in the Intelligent Design controversy. Many scientists are put off by the argument that human beings could not have evolved gradually from lower level animals due to the bio-chemical complexity of human structure. The microvita theory of Prabhat Sarkar allows for both natural law (i.e., evolution) and control of natural phenomena by different types and levels of consciousness. For example, Tantra does not assume that an anthropomorphic god is ignoring natural law or evolution and creating incredibly complex life forms instantaneously.

The unusual assumption of Sarkar, from a scientific point of view, is that Sarkar assumes that consciousness underlies existence and participates in creation. A microvitic consciousness with specific qualities participates in and directs the evolution of complex life forms. Sarkar allows that plants and animals are guided by the Cosmic Mind because the consciousness in their minds is too undeveloped to guide their existence. The human mind is sufficiently evolved to guide the behavior and development of humans. It is not clear to what degree or extent the Cosmic Mind guides the life of plants and animals.

Scientists may not feel competent about or interested in the question of the “evolution” of consciousness. Nevertheless, many scientists, such as physicists, are beginning to think in terms of the interconnection of consciousness and the physical universe. The ability to do research of this type requires some intellectual and intuitive development on the part of the scientist. Many scientists will believe that the presence of subtle entities, or organized energy fields, is unacceptable because they cannot be measured by current physical laboratories.

This may not be a skill acquired by taking a university class on Microvita 101. Years and thousands of hours of meditation, and physical and mental discipline, and study and practice might be required. On the positive side, skilled practitioners may be able to initiate students into this skill and jump start them, so to speak. Alternately, where individuals may have difficulty, groups of sadhakas (spiritual aspirants) meditating together may succeed in harnessing microvita.

Another subject that arises with microvita is the subject of demons and angels, a topic that modern Tantra has dismissed as mythology. However, microvita can be seen as demons (negative microvita) and angels (positive microvita), although on a scientific level. Psychology has arrived at the opinion that mental illness is not caused by “demons” or the “devil.” The theory of microvita reintroduces that concept but on a more scientific basis. Sarkar states that psychiatric disorders occur when there is a preponderance of negative microvita over positive microvita in the lunar plexus (6th cakra). Both positive and negative microvita are required in the human body and mind, but an excess of either can create difficulties.

The difference between demonic theory and microvita is that negative microvita have at best a rudimentary intelligence and do not function like the demons and devils of mythology. Devayoniis and pretayoniis are different in many ways from “demons.” These entities (devayoniis and pretayoniis) are primarily collections of positive and negative microvita surrounding and controlling a disembodied mind. The disembodied mind appears to be an organizing factor for the microvita; however, the disembodied mind itself seems caught in a web of microvita with limited self-expression. Since the mind remains active, samskara (latent karma) is gradually burnt. Probably only the siddha devayonii is very active as a self-expressive entity. However, the siddha devayonii is not an “angel” because a disembodied mind is involved (not seen in angels).

Sarkar is not always clear about whether the microvita in a particular application are positive, negative or neutral. In many cases, any or all three types of microvita could be required in a particular use. For example, pain medication may require negative microvita in the sense that an opioid (narcotic) medication produces a positive effect through a negative process. Microvita that facilitate intellectual skills may be positive, as suggested by the types of devayonii (e.g., arts, beauty, virtues), or they could be neutral.

The deliberate production of different varieties of positive and negative microvita is not explained in much detail in Microvita in a Nutshell. Sarkar explains that positive microvita are produced in meditation, and that more positive microvita are produced in group meditation. A person may attract positive or negative microvita by association with good or bad company or environments. People can produce positive and negative microvita which can spread to other people or even throughout the universe.

If scientists can research positive and negative microvita in the laboratory, then the assumption is that introspective scientists can devise techniques to identify, collect, culture, and produce different microvita for different purposes. A brilliant, talented individual produces microvita that correspond to their talent, and that microvita can be collected, cultured and distributed. Another technique would be to simply think about a certain type or variety of microvita and attract that microvita in meditation by the simple intention to do so (meditating on that type of microvita). For example, a researcher could meditate on putting a certain type of positive microvita into meditation for the purpose of enhancing the effect of the medication.

In general, the objections of skeptics such as The Amazing Randi (stage magician James Randi) cannot be avoided. Proof of the existence of efficacy of the use of microvita does not currently exist. The challenge is for microvita researchers to produce credible, measurable results. On the other hand, microvita researchers face the perhaps greater challenge of disproving and eliminating fraudulent pseudoscience, the paranormal, supernatural claims, and occult powers that pose as examples of microvita applications.

The Intelligent Design theory fails to meet scientific criteria. To qualify as a scientific theory, microvita should ideally meet most if not all of the following criteria.

Consistent (internally and externally). Microvita has identifiable and quantifiable characteristics and boundaries, and it and can be correlated with laws of physics and psychology.

Parsimonious (sparing in proposed entities or explanations, see Occam's Razor). Microvita probably cannot meet this requirement exactly because it is a complex theory. On the other hand, any theory of life has to radically break new ground and must involve some degree of complexity to meet the demands of the subject.

Useful (describes and explains observed phenomena). Microvita theory can explain many hitherto unexplained phenomena and is hence useful.

Empirically testable & falsifiable (see Falsifiability). The theory has not been adequately tested yet, but tentative experiments can be designed to test the theory.

Based upon controlled, repeated experiments. Microvita theory is based on controlled, repeated experiments; the limitation is that those experiments were conducted in the mental laboratory of experts in meditation. There is not at this time in history a scientific paradigm and peer review process to adequately document this technique.

Correctable & dynamic (changes are made as new data are discovered). The area of microvita is wide open to elucidation and change.

Progressive (achieves all that previous theories have and more). The microvita theory stands side-by-side theoretically with current scientific findings and goes beyond previous theories of life. Further, microvita theory explains the existing Tantric literature (such as the topic of cakras) and adds to the understanding of Tantra.

Tentative (admits that it might not be correct rather than asserting certainty). Sarkar could not be described as tentative since he wrote from a position of authority. However, Sarkar would be the first to say that if he is proven incorrect, that his assertions should be disregarded.

[edit] The future of microvitum

Sarkar makes predictions about the utility of microvita in the distant future. “By controlling the microvita of the protoplasmic cells, big changes can be effected within the human body. Ordinary people can be made extraordinary. Their mental qualities and capabilities can be enlarged by supplying microvita in sufficient quantity.” (Chapter 10: The Theory of Microvita and it's possible effects on society)

New varieties of bacteria, viruses, plants, and animals will be created for an endless variety of purposes. Human beings will develop healthier bodies and stronger immune systems and be able to resist common diseases. Mental disorders will be treated with new techniques and microvita specific for each disorder. New medications and chemicals will be manufactured to solve countless problems in society. Human intelligence and spirituality will increase to unimaginable levels.

Microvita can change the physical structure of the human body, enhance the mind, and change the personality of humans. In the future, people will become more intellectual (psychic) and more spiritual. Even society will change according to the application of microvita.

Chemical formulas will change to reflect differences in microvita in different chemical formulas. Chemicals that appear to be similar but have different amounts of microvita will behave differently. A seed or medication with increased microvita may be more effective or have different qualities and hence be more valuable. Changes in protoplasmic nuclei can result in remarkable changes in plants and animals. Genetic structure can be altered with microvita, and memory can improved or weakened by microvita. The hormones of various glands of the body can be increased or decreased through microvita.

Sarkar even predicts that some day it will possible, via positive and negative microvita, to change a mango into an egg, or convert a caterpillar into casein (milk protein).

On the practical level, research on microvita is impossible because the effects are impossible to measure in the laboratory.

Sarkar concluded that “Now, there should be extensive research work regarding this microvitum or these microvita. Our task is gigantic and we are to start our research work regarding these microvita immediately without any further delay, otherwise many problems in modern society will not be solved in a nice way.” (Chapter 1: Microvitum – The mysterious emanation of cosmic factor) “Microvita research can be done in physical, chemical, medical, medicinal and psychological laboratories. For microvita research, you will have to study human psychology thoroughly.” (Chapter 33: Some guidelines for commencing microvita research)

Research into microvita must employ subtle techniques that use both physical laboratories, and mental laboratories using the mind, ideas, and the spirit. Atoms has both a crude (material) and subtle part (idea), which necessitates research in the physical, psychological and spiritual arenas.

In medicine, physicians need to discover how both physical and psychic (idea) factors create diseases in cells. Sarkar states that since negative microvita move without obstruction through the universe, physicians will someday be able to predict and prevent attacks of negative microvita before the reach the earth.

According to Sarkar, allopathic medicine causes negative microvita to be concentrated at the central point of the disease, and the concentration of negative microvita may overcome the effect of the medication. This concentration effect creates new diseases, two to three per decade. The spiritual practices can be prescribed to increase positive microvita to kill the negative microvita. Medicine is currently declining in importance, and only the application of microvita theory can improve the development of new medications.

Microvita is easily dismissed as another superstitious belief. Sarkar sees a different vision: “Ghosts or elves are not really ghosts and elves -- they are gandhapisha'cas. With the dawning of reason and intellect on the dogma-infected minds of the people of the past, the clouds of ignorance began to disappear from the human mind. So-called ghosts, elves, goblins, demons, etc. are disappearing into nothingness.” (Chapter 28: Disembodied souls and microvita)
