Microsoft V-Chat

Microsoft V-Chat is a freeware 3D chat program released in December 1995 by Microsoft. V-Chat allows people to interact in virtual rooms and using customized avatars. People could also create their own personal avatars.

It has now been discontinued, because Microsoft wanted to concentrate on other projects, such as MSN. However it can still be downloaded from other sites, such as download.com.

Many people still host unofficial v-chat servers of their own, and some communites of program users exist over the internet.
