Mickey's

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mickey's is a classic malt liquor made by the Miller Brewing Company. It has an alcohol content of 5.6% by volume.

Still widely known for its unique Beehive, wide-mouthed bottle, Mickey's is sometimes humorously referred to by college wags as "Mickey's Big Mouse," "big mouse" being a pun on the phrase "big mouth." The original packaging included Irish iconography with shamrocks, castle towers, and an arm holding a mace. Current packaging is more neutral, if still green, with an illustrated hornet icon on the cap. The wide mouthed bottles are known for their pictographic riddles under the cap. Enjoying a surge in popularity, due in part because of a sponsorship deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Mickey's marketing is targeting a young, college-aged drinker, slightly left of mainstream and uses the current tagline, "Get Stung" always next to the hornet icon. Mickey's is also very popular in larger, 16-oz., 24-oz., and 40-oz. single-serve sizes. In the United States, the 24-oz. can and the 40-oz. bottle are the most popular. In Canada, Mickey's is sold only in 12-oz. 'Beehive' and with an alcohol content of 5.5% by volume.

Recently, Miller introduced "Mickey's Ice," which has 5.8% alcohol by volume.

[edit] Popularity

Mickey's is usually consumed by white men between ages 18-25.[citation needed]

Mickey's 12 oz. bottles are often referred to as "grenades" due to it's circular waffle design.
