Mick Bates (politician)

Mick Bates (born Loughborough 1947) is a Welsh Liberal Democrat politician, and has been Member of the Welsh Assembly for Montgomeryshire since 1999. He was previously a Powys County Councillor.

Started a farmers programme on local radio and a scheme for students to visit farms.

Represented and campaigned for farmers locally and nationally.

As a Liberal Democrat County Councillor Mick has instigated a successful community regeneration scheme which obtained Market Towns Initiative status.
