Michelle Tempest

Michelle Tempest (born January 23, 1976) is a British psychiatrist and the editor of a book entitled The Future of the NHS (2006) (ISBN 1-85811-369-5) which is published by xpl Publishing.

Tempest comes from Surrey and initially qualified as a doctor at Magdalene College, Cambridge University (MA, MB BChir).

Tempest practised at Addenbrooke's Hospital in numerous different departments from general medicine and accident and emergency to infectious diseases, vascular surgery and colorectal surgery. Following this, she practised as a psychiatrist at Fulbourn Hospital and its surrounding hospitals. As well as general psychiatry, she has expertise in rehabilitation psychiatry, learning disability psychiatry, old age psychiatry and liaison psychiatry.

In addition to these medical qualifications, Tempest also has a masters degree in law (LLM). She has lectured and taught at Cambridge University to both medical and law students.

Tempest edited the book The Future of the NHS published by xpl Publishing in 2006 (ISBN 1-85811-369-5) following her own experiences within the organisation and in particular through her admiration for the staff and in the hope of improving the service for her patients. It is unique in bringing together for the first time forty-four leading experts in the fields of health care, politics and policy making.
