Michael Trend

Michael St John Trend, CBE (born 19 April 1952) is a former Conservative Party politician in the United Kingdom.

He is the son of Lord Trend, the former Cabinet Secretary, and was a leader writer for the Daily Telegraph. He was elected at the 1992 general election as Member of Parliament for the safe Conservative seat of Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire. When that constituency was abolished for the 1997 election, he was returned for the new Windsor constituency.

Trend was a frontbench spokesman and Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive of the Tory Party Tory until 2000. He was Chairman of the International Office of the Tory Party until September 2005 and has done extensive democracy building work in much of the former Soviet Union and also in Africa. He stepped down at the 2005 election following a mistake over his expenses. He has written extensively about music.
