Michael Sleavon

Michael Sleavon (1826 Magheraculmoney, Co Fermanagh – 15 August 1902, Dromard, Co Sligo) was an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross.

At the age of 31, Sleavon was a corporal in the Corps of Royal Engineers during the Indian Mutiny. On 3 April 1858 at Jhansi, India, Corporal Sleavon maintained his position at the head of a sap during the attack on the Jhansi Fort and continued to work under very heavy fire with a cool and steady determination.

He died in Dromard, Co Sligo on 15 August 1902 and was buried in Bannagh Roman Catholic Churchyard, Tubrid, Co Fermanagh.
