[edit] Education
Rabbi Rosensweig attended Yeshiva University, where he was a student of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. He graduated from Yeshiva College in 1980, going on to receive semicha from YU's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, as well as an M.A. and a Ph.D. in medieval Jewish history from the Bernard Revel Graduate School. While pursuing his doctorate, Rabbi Rosensweig became one of the few doctoral students that Professor Haym Soloveitchik has mentored in his career. After receiving semicha, Rabbi Rosensweig became an early member of the Gruss Kollel Elyon, RIETS's nascent post-semicha institute for higher Torah study.
Before his time in Yeshiva University, Rabbi Rosensweig attended Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut, Israel, where he studied under Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein and became one of his prized students.[1]
[edit] Appointment as Rosh Yeshiva
In 1985, Rabbi Rosensweig was officially appointed a Rosh Yeshiva, at which time he was RIETS's youngest Rosh Yeshiva. He currently occupies the Nathan and Perel Schupf Chair of Talmud at RIETS.[2]
[edit] Shiur
Rabbi Rosensweig gives a regular shiur (Torah lecture) four times a week to Yeshiva University undergraduates, and also periodically lectures to semicha students. He is known for his intricate conceptual approach to Talmud study, as well as his heavy use of Brisker methodology in Talmudic analysis.
