Michael Roach

Geshe Michael Roach is an American teacher of Tibetan Buddhism and the founder of Diamond Mountain University, the Asian Classics Institute, the Asian Classics Input Project , the Three Jewels Outreach Center, the Enlightened Business Institute, the Yoga Studies Institute, and the Godstow Retreat Center. He was born in Los Angeles in 1952 and was raised in Phoenix, AZ. As a student at Princeton University he concentrated his studies in religion and ancient Sanskrit and Russian language. He met his teacher Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Tharchin in 1972 in the U.S. and studied with him after that time. He was ordained as a Buddhist monk in 1983. After years of study with Khen Rinpoche in New Jersey and at Sera Mey monastery in Southern India, Roach received a Geshe degree in 1995. He has also studied at Sera Mey with Geshe Thubten Rinchen.[1]
His mother died of breast cancer, which he describes as one of the reasons behind his interest in Buddhism [2] [3].
Roach founded the Andin International Diamond Corporation [4] which also owns Jewelry.com [5].
Roach has written several books on topics including business management and yoga in relation to Buddhism.
