Michael McManus (columnist)

Michael McManus (born June 11, 1942) is a syndicated columnist who writes Ethics & Religion. He is also founder and president of Marriage Savers, a non-profit that helps communities prepare couples for marriage and deter divorce. Before writing Ethics and Religion, McManus worte a syndicated column called "Solutions" and the "Northern Perspective." On January 28, 2005 it was revealed that he accepted money from the George W. Bush administration to promote its marriage initiative program, which he did not disclose to his readers.

The third person to be implicated, in an article by Tom Hamburger of The Los Angeles Times on January 28. It was revealed that McManus, who is a self-described "marriage advocate", was paid through a subcontractor with a consulting firm that does work for the Department of Health and Human Services to endorse a restriction on marriage as between a man and a woman. The payments were said to be $4,000 plus travel expenses, with an additional $49,000 paid to his organization, Marriage Savers Inc.
