Michael Mancuso

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael "Mikey Nose" Mancuso is the former acting boss of the Bonanno crime family.[1] Mancuso is the third acting boss since Joseph "Joe" Massino was arrested in 2002. He took the leadership role after the second acting boss Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano was indicted and jailed on November 19, 2004. Michael Mancuso is a caporegime from the Bronx faction of the family, just like his predecessor. Michael Mancuso is related to the Mancuso family of Upstate New York.

Mancuso was arrested on February 16, 2006, and is currently facing charges of murder. He is also under investigation for possible involvement for the Sciascia homicide while he awaits in jail. If convicted it would not be his first time serving time in prison. In 1984, Mancuso dropped off his mortally wounded wife on a bench outside a Bronx emergency room with two bullets in her head. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and served ten years in state prison.

It has been reported that Mancuso was involved with the Purple Gang in the early 1980s.[citation needed]
