Michael Maestlin (September 30, 1550- October 20, 1631) was a German astronomer and mathematician. He was a professor at the University of Tübingen for 47 years. Among his students was Johannes Kepler. Although he primarily taught the Ptolemaic view of the solar system, he was also one of the first to accept and teach the Copernican view. He corresponded with Kepler frequently and played a sizeable part in his adoption of the Copernican system.

In 1582 Maestlin wrote a popular introduction to Astronomy.
