Michael Kumpfmüller

Michael Kumpfmüller (born 1961 in Munich) is a German writer. He is married to Eva Menasse and lives in Berlin since 1986.

He studied history and German literature in Tübingen, Vienna and Berlin and graduated in 1994. Since 1990 he has worked as freelance journalist for several newspapers and magazines.

His first novel Hampels Fluchten was published in 2000 and translated into Dutch, English, Finnish and French. The English version The Adventures of a Bed Salesman was translated by Anthea Bell. In 2005 his new novel Durst (Thirst).
