Michael Kimmel

Michael Scott Kimmel (*1951) is an American sociologist. His focus is Men's studies. He teaches at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in New York and is the editor of Men and Masculinities. Kimmel is a spokesperson of NOMAS (The National Organization For Men Against Sexism)[1]. He pursues a pro-feminist approach.

In an article about a "fight club" located in Menlo Park, CA., Kimmel remarked that men involved in fight clubs had a sadomasochistic trait and were "the male version of the girls who cut themselves."[2]
