Michael Kim

Michael Kim (born January 26, 1964) in Fulton, Missouri, is an anchor on ESPNEWS flagship program The Hot List along with Brian Kenny and is also contributes to ESPN's flagship program SportsCenter. Since joining ESPNEWS on November 1, 1996 prior to its premiere, he has become one of the faces of the network. He frequently anchored ESPN 2's NHL 2Night program. Kim is a 1987 graduate of Westminster College in his hometown of Fulton, Missouri with a bachelor's in political science and business administration. He also earned a master's in journalism from the University of Missouri.

From 1991 until joining ESPN, he worked at NewsChannel 8 in Springfield, Virginia. In 1993, Kim was rewarded with an Emmy for sports reporting from the Capital Region Chapter for a series called "Local Heroes," which was also recognized as the "Best Sports Series" by the Society of Professional Journalists. Kim also received an award from the National Association of Black Journalists for "Best Sports Feature."

His family was the only Asian American household in the town of 11,000. His father Peter was earning a Ph.D. at the University of Missouri.

Kim grew up playing football, baseball, basketball and was a passionate fan of the St. Louis Cardinals in baseball and football.

Kim is the first Asian American national sportscaster to anchor on a daily basis.
