Michael Kennedy has directed 14 feature-length films or TV movies and over 120 television episodes including every episode of the first season of Little Mosque On The Prairie.
Michael has received 2 Directors Guild of Canada Awards, a Directors Guild of America Award nomination, a Best Director Gemini nomination; 3 wins from 7 nominations for Best Director at the Canadian Comedy Awards, and Best Director at the Canadian Music Video Awards.
Michael is often brought in early to help develop a new TV series. Besides the pilot of “Little Mosque…” he also directed the first episodes filmed and/or aired of My Life and a Movie, North South, Mental Block, Listen Missie, Screech Owls, P.R., Taking The Falls, and Jets. He was also one of the directors of the acclaimed comedy series Kids In The Hall and directed 14 episodes of the award-winning Made In Canada series starring Rick Mercer.
His international reputation has led Michael to direct movies in many countries: Jets was filmed in Munich, Texas, and Los Angeles; Broken Lullaby in Budapest; One Man Out in Mexico; Caribe in Belize, Calculated Risk in Germany, and 9 others were filmed in Canada. Michael also wrote the scripts for three of the feature films he directed.
Michael lives with his wife, Carrie, and their three children in a suburb of Toronto, Canada.
