Michael R. Jones ran as a cadidate for the BC Marijuana Party in 2001 in the Okanagan-Vernon riding. His personal platform was based more on the philosophies of freedom and choice, influenced by the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sarte, rather than solely on cannabis legalization. Today Jones is apolitical and is disenfranchised with the BC Marijuana Party. He no longer smokes cannabis but still thinks legalization would be a benefit to society.
