Michael Jackson is currently working on a new studio album which is expected to be released in the second half of 2007. The new album has been in production since May of 2006 and will be released under the record label The Michael Jackson Company.[1] This album is considered by many to be Michael’s “comeback” album. The album is being recorded in Dublin, Ireland and Las Vegas by Jackson and co-producer will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas.
Michael Jackson and will.i.am have recorded at least eight new songs for the album. will.i.am says that this album will be different from anything released in music history and that it is best described as an Off The Wall for today's generation.[2] Some of the work in progress includes up-tempo, dance-floor ready tunes and "great melodies".
The album will be widely distributed sometime in November, although it is not comfirmed exactly when.

[edit] Recording
Michael Jackson started recording the album in May of 2006 in Bahrain. In October of that year he re-located to London, England where he continued to record. In late 2006 he moved to Ireland where he met up with will.i.am.
In October 2006 Access Hollywood travelled to a classic old Irish estate ouside Dublin, a stone manor built with a state of the art recording studio to conduct an informal interview with Jackson and will.i.am. Presenter Billy Bush questioned Jackson if this was him deciding to get back in to making music, he insisted that he had never stopped. When they discussed the music, Jackson explained that he likes to take sounds and put them under the microscope to manipulate the character of them. Jackson indicated that this music was something completely new and something no one has ever done before. They also discussed the possibility of making this new album a sequel to his 1982 album Thriller.
Currently, Jackson has been working in a studio outside of Las Vegas and is expected to return to Ireland next month to finish the album.
[edit] Album Title
Although there has been a lot of speculation on fan websites and in the press, the title of Michael Jackson’s upcoming album has yet to be released. In February of 2006 it was incorrectly reported in a web snippet[3] that the upcoming album will be titled Carry On. This report conflicted with a previously published article[4] explaining that song Billie Jean will be covered on the upcoming album of the former Audioslave member Chris Cornell and that his album will be titled Carry On.
[edit] Various Proposals & Productions
Michael Jackson's focused on his next album, which includes him rapping on a few tracks.
"He hasn't made up his mind about whether a Vegas show is in the cards for him," his rep, Raymone Bain, told us. "He's been in the studio since November working on his music. He's been presented with various proposals. A Vegas show isn't a priority.
"He's in Las Vegas now. He's pretty grounded in Vegas. It's very convenient for producers and songwriters to get to him. He's worked there before. He's been recording with producers Rodney Jerkins, will.i.am and Neffu."
Mind you, Jackson doesn't have a record deal. Says Bain: "He's finalizing distribution arrangements."
[edit] Album Release
Will.i.am has said that the album may be released online through social network sites such as MySpace, instead of a traditional store based CD release.[5] It should be noted that Jackson does not have distribution with a major record label. In September of 2006 will.i.am became the head of marketing of the online music distribution company Musicane.[6] It is unknown if the upcoming album will be available on popular online music sites such as iTunes or amazon.com.
In November, Access Hollywood followed Jackson when he was in London for the 2006 World Music Awards. Presenter Billy Bush spoke to fashion designer Roberto Cavalli, who explained that Jackson had contacted him to design his clothes for the World Music Awards and further events, including a 2008 World Tour to support the album.
[edit] Possible Success
If Jackson goes on tour it has potential to reach an estimated 8 million people boosting record sales and could gross $500 million with total earnings of $250 million.
It has been estimated by music experts that if the album was extremely good it could sell an estimate of 25-45 million with heavy promotion.
The new album could spark interest for the younger generation, therefore boosting other record sales for previous material especially Jacksons last work Invincible.
Jackson could get various offers and proposals for making music videos, performing on stage, accepting awards and endorsing products.
