Michael Iain Wigan

Michael Iain Wigan was born 3 October 1951.

Educated Eton College and Exeter College, Oxford. Married Julia de Courcy Ling, with 5 children.

He may be the heir to the Wigan of Paston Hall Baronetcy but has not claimed the title.

He has managed a sporting and farming estate at Borrobol in the Strath of Kildonan, Sutherland for the last 27 years. He is also the manager of the Helmsdale River Board on behalf of the river’s fishery owners.

He is a director of Luss Estate on Loch Lomond owned by the Colquhoun family. His maternal grandfather Sir Iain Colquhoun of Luss, Bt a keen deerstalker was one of the three foundes of the National Trust for Scotland.

Wigan is a writer and journalist and has written for many of the mainstream newspapers and country magazines. Sometime art critic, travel writer and film reviewer, most of his writing has been on countryside issues.
