Michael Hawkins (born July 15, 1983 in Dallas, TX) is an American football safety. He was a standout cornerback at Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas, after transferring from Dallas Hillcrest, where he was ranked among the top 100 players in the country by multiple recruiting services. He attended the University of Oklahoma for only one season, but he made an impact, playing in five games and returning an interception for a touchdown. After a few Arena Football League seasons, he was selected by the Green Bay Packers with the 167th overall selection in the 2005 NFL Draft. He was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings off of waivers in 2006.

Hawkins attended R.L. Turner (Carrollton, Texas) High School, playing football for coach Tim Beck. The Dallas Morning News named him All-State in 2001. He was rated one of the top ten 10 cornerbacks in the nation by Rivals.com, Max Emfinger/USA Today.com and by Scout.com. He was a member of the Houston Chronicle's Texas Top 100 team, PrepStar's Dream Team, Dave Campbell's Texas Football Super Team and SuperPrep All-America team. He was a first-team all-district pick, and participated in the 2002 Oil Bowl. He recorded 51 tackles, including 27 solo stops and one tackle for loss during his senior year. He also intercepted three passes, had 12 passes broken up and caused two fumbles. He caught two passes, with both receptions going for touchdowns and averaged 57.0 yards on two kickoff returns. He made 40 stops and intercepted two passes as a junior. Hawkins also competed in track, participating in the 100-meter, long jump and triple jump events.

In his only season at Oklahoma, Hawkins played in five games during the 2002 season. He recorded five tackles (4 solos) with a pass deflection and returned an interception 45 yards for a touchdown vs. UTEP. He seemed destined for stardom, but left the team after the season to play for the Arena Football League's Dallas Desperados.
