Michael lan Gothard (June 24, 1939 – December 2, 1992 (suicide) was an English actor, usually best remembered for the television series Arthur of the Britons.
After appearances in the films Herostratus (1967) and Up the Junction (1968), Gothard looked set for stardom, and acquired a female following after taking a villainous role as Mordaunt in the BBC's adaptation of Twenty Years After (Further Adventures of the Musketeers). Despite notable appearances in Ken Russell's The Devils and as real-life assassin John Felton in The Three Musketeers (1973), his career never really took off. Apart from his regular role as Kai opposite Oliver Tobias as Arthur, and as the villain in For Your Eyes Only, he was never again so much in the public eye.
