Michael Gomez

Michael "The Predator" Gomez was born Michael Armstrong, 12 March 1972 in Longford, Ireland. Gomez is a former professional boxer who grew up in a Irish traveller family in Collyhurst, Manchester, England. He usually fights at lightweight however has also fought as a professional in the featherweight and super featherweight divisions.
Gomez boxed as an amateur before turning professional in June 1995, winning his first fight at the G-Mex Leisure Centre, Manchester, England, in which Gomez beat previously unbeaten Danny Ruegg on an undercard that included Robin Reid and Michael Brodie.
Gomez is a veteran of the Manchester professional fight scene however he has also fought in Scotland, USA and his native Ireland. Gomez is a former British Central Area Featherweight Title, IBF Inter-Continental Featherweight Title, British Super Featherweight Title, WBO Inter-Continental Super Featherweight Title, WBA International Super Featherweight Title and WBU Super Featherweight Title holder. Agrueable his biggest fight to date was against Edinburgh fighter "Amazing" Alex Arthurfor the WBU Super Featherweight Title and the WBA International Super Featherweight Title which took place in the Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland in October 2003. Gomez won this bad tempered contested fight with an explosive knock out of Arthur in the fifth round.[1]
