Michael Donnellan is a former inter-county Gaelic footballer for Galway. He is the son of former politician and footballer, John Donnellan and grandson of politician and footballer Michael Donnellan.

Donnelan first came to prominence as a member of the talented St. Jarlath's College team of the early nineties. He played a crucial role in their Hogan Cup winning season of 1994. He was twice named All Stars Footballer of the Year in 1998 and 2001 and Texaco Footballer of the Year in 1998. He won All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals with Galway in 1998 and 2001. He was awarded an GAA All Stars Awards on three occasions in 1998, 2000 and 2001. Michael Donnellan's solo run against Kildare in the All-Ireland Football Final at Croke Park in 1998 was given first place in the Top 20 GAA Moments. He retired from inter-county football at the end of the 2006 season. Donnelan went on to win an All Ireland Club Championship with his adopted club Salthill-Knocknacarra in 2005. He gave a man of the match performance in the final where Salthill narrowly edged out Antrim club St. Galls.
