Michael D. Protack (born 1957) is an American pilot and politician from Yorklyn, near Hockessin in New Castle County, Delaware. He is a member of the Republican Party. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for the United States Senate seat in the 2006 U.S. Senate election in Delaware, narrowly losing to Jan C. Ting, a professor at Temple University.

[edit] Early life and family
Protack was born in Delaware and grew up in New Castle, Delaware. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1975 and attended the University of Delaware, graduating in 1979 with a B.A. in international relations. After graduating, Protack served in the United States Marine Corps for ten years, becoming a platoon commander, instructor pilot, and executive officer of the Recruiting Station in Philadelphia. Protack has been married to Mary Ann Protack for 27 years and they have two sons, Clinton and Kevin. They live in Yorklyn, near Hockessin in New Castle County, Delaware.Clinton is the only scout in Troop 70 to earn Eagle and all three eagle palms. Kevin is also active in BSA Troop 70. Clinton is a medical school student and Kevin is junior at Archmere Academy.
Mike is an airline Captain (Delta) and has over 11,000 accident free hours in 15 different aircraft.

Protack has been a Republican Party delegate and committee member for the Brandywine Hundred, Christiana Hundred and Mill Creek Hundred, all subdivisions of northern New Castle County, Delaware.
Protack is a likely candidate for Governor or U S Senate in 2008.
