Michael Babiak

Michael Harold "Moxor" Babiak is an Canadian artist born in 1951 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. Michael is married to Maria Carmen (nee Isern) Babiak.

Babiak first cut his teeth as an artist during his stint at the Banff School of Fine Art in the early 70's in Alberta, Canada. Although interrupted by a business career at IBM, Babiak went on to devote more time to his metier, being encouraged to dedicate more of his time to painting by avant-garde artist and musician Alex Sellink in the late 90's while maintaing a career in high-technology. Among other things, Michael as a first-investor in startup Quack.com where he went on to head business development and champion a sale of Quack to America Online. His dedication to his art was significantly expanded through this and other successes in business, resulting in recognition in the early part of the new century.

He has during his life lived for periods in London, England; Nice, France; while traveling extensively with his inner circle. One of his best loved creations is his interpretation of the Jackson Pollack drip paintings.

He is recognised for his vibrant, whimsical and even illogical use of colour, often assigning unfamiliar tone to depicted, abstract features.

Babiak currently lives in a small rural Northern California town.
