- The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of a fair use image as a replaceable image. Please do not modify it.
The result of the debate was to Delete the image.
Any picture of the subject will do just fine for the articles purposes. The man in question is still alive so free imagery is possible.--Nilfanion (talk) 23:02, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dispute
No free verison of this image exists on the internet. Websites likethis and this have the same image. Storm05 14:39, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- A free version could be created, as the suspect is known, is going through trial and images may be possible in the courtroom (depending on local laws) or if he is released. What other websites do is not relevant to us. I would be fine with delaying the decision on this until the trial is settled (which could be a few years, according to the article), because if he is convicted/sentenced, it would be unlikely to created a free image then, unless images are allowed in the courtroom or while he is being transfered (very likely, as TV news cameras often show this). I'm not sure the replaceability has been exhausted just yet though. --MECU≈talk 15:45, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- A free version of this image cannot be created since this is a mugshot image relesed by the police department and not an image taken by an ordanry person.Storm05 16:55, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think we don't need a mugshot, just an image to show what he looks like. Why do we need a mugshot? There should also be a rationale on the image description page explaining this and other things, per the fair use rationale requirement. --MECU≈talk 19:28, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- Because mugshot is better than a picture of him being transfered or standing trial and a mugshot is appropate for the bio section. see the William Morva article for example. And i will stated above, pictures of micheal addiosn standing trial should go into the trial section of the article and pictures of Micheal Addison being transferred should go into the Capture and extradiction section of the article not the seciton about the person himself.Storm05 11:58, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Also, family photos and other photographs of Micheal Addison are nonexistant online. Storm05 12:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- Added rationalle. Storm05 12:11, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- The rationale states: "To illustrate the person..." Any image (of the person) can illustrate, a free image is better than a copyrighted one. --MECU≈talk 13:43, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

- Incorrect. Then that will be inapprate for the section that it is illistrating, which is about the person. Storm05 14:13, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
- In other words a picture showing micheal addison being in court cannot go into the background section because the background section is about the person not the trial and it will confuse the reader. Same goes with the transfer which can go into the subsections in the October 16, 2006 shooting.Storm05 14:21, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

- I replaced the mugshot tag with an appropate one to clear up the dispute. Storm05 12:00, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
