Miami Township, Logan County, Ohio

Miami Township is one of seventeen townships in Logan County, Ohio, United States. It is located in the southwestern corner of the county. The village of Quincy lies entirely within Miami Township, and portions of the village of DeGraff also lie within the township. The 2000 U.S. Census found 2,352 people in the township.

It borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:
- Adams Township, Champaign County, on the south;
- Perry Township, Shelby County, on the west;
- Salem Township, Shelby County, on the northwest (touches, but does not border);
- Pleasant Township, on the north;
- Union Township, on the east;
- Harrison Township, Champaign County, on the southeast
Important highways in Miami Township include State Routes 235, 508, and 706.
[edit] Name and history
It is named after the Great Miami River, which flows through the township. Other Miami Townships are found in the counties of Clermont, Greene, Hamilton, and Montgomery.
Miami Township was formed in 1814 from Lake Township.

The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
