A picture of an unknown Japanese animal. Photo taken on the Island of Mia jima, off the coast of Hiroshima. This photo was taken by me while on holiday and I have no objections to its use by anyone for any purpose.

This animal resembles a racoon or fox. None of the articles on Japanese animals have anything that looks like it. What is it?
