Mi Tierra is the fifth studio solo album and first Latin album released by American singer Gloria Estefan, but is the fifteenth overall, released in 1993 (see 1993 in music).

The past album proves to be another successful album for Estefan, but instead of that, this album became in the most successful album of all her entire career. This album is one of the most known Latin albums around the world, in which Gloria demonstrates her musical roots.

"Mi Tierra" have a lot of Cuban beats and Latin traditional rhythm, and is the most up-beat and dancing album of her career to that moment, the album also had a lot of powerful ballads such the second single, "Con los Años que me Quedan", that was included on the 2nd Gloria Estefan’s compilation album, Greatest Hits Vol. II called "If we were Lover’s", also this song was released as the single in UK, where it reached the Top 40. This song show the romantic mood that it’s wanted, but also can be hear that it’s a traditional Cuban song, for it’s inclusion of some Cuban slow rhythms.

Before this single, was released the single, "Mi Tierra", this single wasn’t a romantic song, but a dance song, not a dance-club song, but a latin-rhythm dance song. The song is probably the most notorious song of all, and probably the one that makes this album so successful. Was a US Latin Chart number one for six weeks and became a US Top 5 Dance hit, also a Top 40 hit in UK and Australia. The following single to "Con los Años que me Quedan" was "Tradicion", another dance song, but this it’s even more up-beat than the first single, it’s show a lot of traditional congas and bongos making a mixture of Cuban music with African rhythm. This song topped the US dance charts for two weeks.

"Montuno" was released exclusively to the European and British markets, and prove his success when it reached the number #55 at the UK Charts, while in US was released a promotional single, "Mi Buen Amor", who was another number one for Gloria in the Latin chart. And finally the last promotional release at US was "Ayer", which became a successful song when it reached the Top 5 of the Latin Tracks chart.

This album makes Gloria gained more fame around the world and the awards for her became a lot, firstly, she became in the first artist to sold more albums on Spain, there became the first biggest selling album in Spain history selling more than a million copies on the country, an amazing record for an artist. Gloria received her first Grammy award for this album, in the category of "Best Tropical Latin Album", she also won her first World Music Award for "Best-Selling Latin Performer" and ended at the Billboard Year-End charts as the "Top 50 Latin Album Artist", "Top 50 Latin Album", "Top Tropical/Salsa Latin Artist" and "Top Tropical/Salsa Latin Album", this last two, for two consecutive years. And it became the first Spanish to featured at the Billboard 200 Albums chart at a high position, reaching the #27 of that chart, this record was broken by Shakira’s "Fijacion Oral" album in 2004 when she reached the #4.

A lot of artists were take part of this project, among them were: Percussionist Tito Puente, Singer Sheila E., Guitarist Chamin Correa, Luis Enrique, Trumpeter Arturo Sandoval and singer Jon Secada. Also, the London Symphony Orchestra made part of team, supporting with the string instruments. This album has sold more than 5.1 million copies worldwide.
