[edit] why the wikify tagging?
Care to explain why you are en mass wikify tagging all these articles? Shanes 00:16, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Can you please tell me an example of an unnecessary tag? Mhs5392 00:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Well, my Ranked list of subnational entities springs to mind. I don't see what needed wikifying there. Also note that tagging new articles just seconds after they've been created might be percived as rude. When someone makes a new article they usually need some time and extra edits to straighten everything out. This is very natural and they probably know this, so pushing a "Improve this article" tag on them right away is not really needed. Give them some time. But thanks for watching the newest articles list, it's a usually thankless job (I know, I've done it alot) and it's great that you're doing it. Don't take my comment the wrong way. Shanes 00:24, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- I understand your concern and thank you for your patrol as it is necessary to WikiPedia. I flagged the ranked list because I was unsure about the manner in which someone would come across the article; I thought a more general title would help the continuity of the encyclopedia. I agree, however, that I may have been overzealous in my tagging. If you look at my recent history, though, you will see that many articles I have flagged (such as the everyone is an idiot company) are worth serious review. I understand your concern and thank you for your advice. Mhs5392 00:28, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, and I was a bit quick with calling it "En mass tagging". I just checked my article and the one you tagged seconds after it, and thought you were pushing the same tag on every new article. I see now that you weren't, so I drew my conclusion to hasty. It's the second time today I do that. I need to relax a litle ;-). Anyway, no hard feelings, and my advice about giving new articles some time was well meant. But the obvious vanity/nonsense articles are fair game to speedy tag right away, and thanks for doing it. [edit] Ref converter errors
Hey there, I noticed you were getting some NOREFS errors on some pages you were trying to update using the User:Cyde/Ref converter. This is because you didn't use correct capitalization (yes, capitalization matters). For instance, you typed in Http cookie instead of HTTP cookie, Geography of india instead of Geography of India, etc. It may be faster just to copy-and-paste page names rather than retyping them from scratch. --Cyde Weys 00:51, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it and your work in developing Ref Converter. Mhs5392 00:52, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please subst warnings
Hello Mhs5392. When you use template tags on talk pages, it'd be much appreciated if you could substitute according to the guidelines at Wikipedia:Template substitution. Just add subst: to the tag; for example, {{subst:bv}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Thanks. :) --Rory096(block) 23:16, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'm terribly sorry. I'll be more careful. Thank you for your help. Mhs5392 23:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Esperanza
Welcome, Mhs5392, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.
I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee, JoanneB, Titoxd and FireFox. The April elections have begun.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact me via email or talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC Tutorial, which was written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

I would also like to welcome you. — nathanrdotcom (T • C • W) 04:02, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Old Skool Esperanzial note
Since this isn't the result of an AC meeting, I have decided to go Old Skool. This note is to remind you that the elections are taking place now and will end at 23:50 UTC on 2006-04-29. Please vote here. Thanks. --Celestianpower háblame 20:42, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to WikiProject International development. Good to have someone with an interest in the economic issues. (I have an interest, but it's not my area of expertise.) --Singkong2005 10:43, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Concordia Newsletter
Community Justice is no more. It has been reformed to Concordia. Membership has been transferred.
Concordia is an organization of editors on Wikipedia that strive to encourage civility and fair treatment among all editors in the Wikipedian community, from the Wikignome to the Wikiholic. The project was designed to have a friendly and helpful environment to support any unfortunate Wikipedians that have become victims of incivility, hostility, or continual disrespect.
We currently need help in getting going, and making the community understand our aims. We work for civility. Nothing more, nothing less.
If you have ideas, let us know at our talk page, or on the IRC channel. We aim to spread civility in every way we can.
Should you wish to unsubscribe to future newsletters, please add your name to Wikipedia:Concordia/Do Not Spam.
Thank you for your time. If you need anything, feel free to comment at WT:CCD or come into our IRC channel [2].

[edit] Portal:Law selections
Greetings, fellow WikiProject Law member! One of our tasks on this WikiProject is the upkeep of Portal:Law, where we have set up a four week cycle wherein each week one of four key features - the selected article, biography, case, or image - is rotated out. Previous selections can be found at Portal:Law/former selections. Please contribute your thoughts at Portal talk:Law as to likely candidates for future rotations in each of these categories. Cheers! [edit] A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] In Need of Some Help
Would you please take a look at Comparison between U.S. states and countries nominal GDP if you have some time to. We need an update for 2005, but it has just been discovered that the figures even for 2004 may not be correct. Help would be appreciated. (Eddie 23:41, 13 July 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Concordia Newsletter
Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.
[edit] Help out now!
- Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
- Give people the Civility Barnstar.
- Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
- Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
- Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.
We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.
[edit] Decision Making
The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.
If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.
