Mezezius

Mezezius also known as Mecetius, Byzantine usurper in Sicily from 668 to 669. Noble Armenian from the Gnuni clan at the court of the emperor in Syracuse, he took part in the murder of Constans II, and was proclaimed emperor by the army. However, when the news of the assassination of Constans II reached the son Constantine IV in Constantinople, an expedition was managed to depose and kill him. His court was deported in Constantinople.
