Wikipedia:Mexican radio nonsense campaign

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I strongly suspect an ongoing campaign of adding (and re-adding) pages to Wiki for non-existant Mexican radio personalities and politicians. All of the following inter-related articles have questionable, unverifiable details, and sometimes non-sensical or untranslated text, or patent nonsense, and originated from 24.199.213.90:

[edit] Radio/Politics related

  • Líderes de Opinión
    • This article is only partially in English. Maybe this should have been submitted to the Spanish Wikipedia for speedy deletion?

  • Félix Malpica Valverde
    • Born in 1921 and hosted an FM radio program??

There are people alive today who were born in 1921. However, the article gives that as the year of death. Maybe the dates are wrong, but the person and program (Líderes de Opinión) are verified on three non-mirror sites -- [1] [2] [3], all with basically the same text. The person and program seem legit, but the details given in the articles are strange. This may be confusion due to translation, or it may be deliberate. I have left the anon a message pointing him to the Spanish Wikipedia. SWAdair | Talk 01:23, 28 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Guillermo Zúñiga Martínez
    • In a previous incarnation of this page (which was deleted for nonsense), Guillermo's birthdate was after his date of death, and he was listed as a PRI member before the party existed.
    • The version posted 20:56, 26 Nov 2004 by 24.199.213.90 says that he was born in 1942 and was friends with Félix Malpica Valverde (died 1921).
    • The website of the Mexican Senate does not currently list this individual's name.
  • Armando Quintero Martínez
    • Version submitted 18:51, 11 Nov 2004 by 24.199.213.90 says Armando died in 1917, yet participated in an FM radio program.
    • Text borders on unintelligible nonsense.
  • Pedro Ferríz Santacruz
    • Died 1923 and broadcasted on FM 99.7!! ?

    • This was re-submitted... suspicious... Eric 02:24, 14 July 2005 (UTC)
  • Emilio Azcárraga
    • Well, this man appears to exist, but these biographies should be divided into two pages
    • Poor English, needs wikification, TLC

  • Tomás Ruíz González
    • Beware of friends of possibly non-existant Félix Malpica Valverde
    • "Tomás was chief of teacher"
    • Uh oh, Tomas was a "deputy for the Partido Revolucionario Institucional", not a good sign. None of 24.199.213.90's PRI politicians appear to exist!!!
    • "Tomás Ruíz González (1963-1930)" - nail in the coffin
    • Submitted 10:06, 13 Nov 2004 by 24.199.213.90
  • Mike Laure
    • Submitted 18:31, 22 Oct 2004 by 24.199.213.90
    • Psychic musician: "Mike Laure (1849-1927)" ...and later... "His idols of rock 'n' roll are Ritchie Valens, Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, The Beatles"

[edit] Non-radio related nonsense from 24.199.213.90

  • Metro Aragón
    • Awful writing. At least I can say that the Aragon subway station actually exists (I've been there).
    • Submitted 17:24, 16 Nov 2004 24.199.213.90
  • Encarta 95
    • Duplicate article to Encarta and poor English
