The Mexican Woodrat (Neotoma mexicana) is a medium-sized rat found in the Trans-Pecos region of North America (mainly Texas, but also found in Colorado). It averages about 300mm in length, and weighs 140 to 185 grams. It is found in mountainous areas, and makes its nests in crevices and cracks in boulders. The rat eats berries, vegetation, nuts, acorns, and fungi.
