I was born on Pearl Harbor Day in 1974 in the USA. I happen to have a more-or-less encyclopedic memory for things I've read, especially if biology-related (but not, alas, for my car keys or wallet). Currently, I live within 40 minutes of both Assateague Island National Seashore (Maryland) and Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge (Virginia).

My focus is in environmental philosophy and ethics, especially bioethics. Besides philosophy, I dabble in a little of everything - national and international politics, psychology and the various cognitive sciences, and even progressive rock music - though (as a student of biology for many years) zoology and its related subfields happen to be among my favorite subjects!

By and large, my interests are interdisciplinary, and so there'll be some variation day-to-day as to what I'm editing. I have a background in the philosophy of biology, so I appreciate solid philosophical critiques of the life sciences (and vice versa). My general intention here is to keep abreast in the subject, so when I'm thinking or writing about living organisms my philosophical speculations have their bases in the real world. In the same vein, I frequently browse politics, the social sciences (anthropology, etc.), philosophy and religion (especially Buddhism), human evolution, neuroscience, ecology, ornithology, herpetology, paleontology, linguistics, world history, and international law, among others. Philosophically speaking, I am a panentheist.

My favorite animals are birds, reptiles, and primates. At the present, I keep several tropical fish, as well as a juvenile snapping turtle (whose name happens to be "Gary", though I'm not certain that s/he knows it yet); I've also kept other wild-caught reptiles and amphibians for much shorter periods of time for the purposes of observation. My current occupation is "student," though I also work summers at a local park doing environmental education with native, non-releasable raptors, snakes, and turtles of various species.

Feel like discussing any articles I've edited, or got something on your mind? Contact me at your leisure, but beware: I use a rather unreliable dial-up connection that may disconnect without a moment's notice! So don't be offended if, at times, it takes longer than you'd like for me to get back to you.

Yours-
