Metso Corporation (NYSE: MX) was created in 1999 through the merger of Valmet and Rauma and is headquartered at Helsinki, Finland. Metso is a global supplier of process industry machinery and systems as well as know-how and aftermarket services. It serves customers in the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing, power,panelboard production and the hydrocarbon and process industries.

Net sales in 2004: EUR 3,976 million.

Metso consists of four business areas: Metso Paper, Metso Minerals, Metso Automation and Metso Ventures.

  • Metso Paper is a global supplier of papermaking, tissuemaking, pulpmaking and boardmaking lines, serving its customers throughout their processes – from pulp making to the wrapping of finished rolls.
  • Metso Minerals supplies rock and minerals processing systems to its customers in mining, aggregates production, quarrying and construction.
  • Metso Automation is a global supplier of machine and process automation for the pulp and paper industry, rock and minerals processing and the power and process industries.
  • Metso Ventures consists of Metso Panelboard, Metso Powdermet, Metso's foundries and Valmet Automotive.
