Metropolitan Washington Ear

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Metropolitan Washington Ear is a free broadcast service for the blind and visually impaired of Greater Washington, D.C.

The main functions of the Metropolitan Washington Ear are: a radio reading service, where volunteers read newspapers and other publications over a sub-frequency broadcast that is picked up by a network of special distributed radios; and a dial-in service where volunteers read specific portions of virtually any publication featured on the service over the phone.

The Metropolitan Washington Ear is located at 35 University Boulevard East, Silver Spring, Maryland 20901 in a building attached to Marvin Memorial Methodist Church.

Anyone with a physical or visual limitation who wishes to sign up for the Washington Ear service can call the offices at (301) 681-6636 or visit www.washear.org.
