[edit] History

Metropolis opened in October of 2005 with 550,000 sq. ft of retail, restaurants and entertainment venues. Once complete in 2008, the center will encompass 850,000 sq ft. Phase I is almost complete, with most shops filled. Phase II begins in Spring-Summer 07 and will be nearly double the size of Phase I, and another major anchor store will be added. Rumors of a Macy's or Sears are floating around.

[edit] Location

Metropolis is located in Hendricks County, the second fastest growing county in Indiana and the 62nd fastest growing county in the nation. Second only to its breakthrough retail strength is the advantage of Metropolis’ accessibility with two existing exits off of I-70 and a third under development to serve as the new main entrance for the expanding Indianapolis International airport. In addition, US 40 is a four-lane, east-west passageway through Hendricks County directly passing Metropolis. Metropolis’ location has eliminated the need for shoppers to commute 30-45 minutes for comparable shopping.
