[edit] Notes
- The figure is derived from ridership of two operators in Tokyo: Tokyo Metro Corporation 2.077 billion (Apr 2004-Mar 2005) [15] ; TOEI Subway 738 million (Jul 2003-Jun 2004) [16], thus passengers, transferring from one system to another are counted twice.
- The figure is derived from ridership of two operators in Seoul: Seoul Metro 1,061,532,456 (Jan 2006 ~ Dec 2006)[17](in Korean), and SMRT 592,882,234(Jan 2006 ~ Dec 2006)[18](in Korean). This figure counts only gate-passers, so it only includes the system's pure-ridership. Passengers from Korail metropolitan railroad stations are excluded. If passenger figures for Korail were included, the figure would be 2,509,228,690 in 2006. [19](in Korean)
- MTR Airport Express is excluded.
- Sources are requested for those figures. The data of Shanghai and Beijing came from Statistics China.
