Methanolamine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Methanolamine, with a chemical formula of CH5NO, also called aminomethanol, is an organic chemical compound which is both a primary amine (due to an amino group in its molecule) and a primary alcohol (due to a hydroxyl group). Like other amines, methanolamine acts as a weak base.

Methanolamine is produced by reacting methanol with ammonia, releasing hydrogen gas.
