[edit] Sourcing
Not even remotely enough independant sources. If you can't find mainstream press for an organization, it will get blown to smithereens at AfD. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 13:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Okay. I guess that's the problem, mainstream press isn't interested in Messianic Judaism, it just isn't on the radar much, so independent sources are extremely scarce. But I guess that's the way things are. Jamie Guinn 14:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Elaragirl, I am not sure how to do it, but if you believe that it needs to get tagged AfD, go for it. Trial by fire, sink or swim. Jamie Guinn 14:55, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Not what I meant. The basic idea is as follows:
- Elaragirl, I am not sure how to do it, but if you believe that it needs to get tagged AfD, go for it. Trial by fire, sink or swim. Jamie Guinn 14:55, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
- Create a working stub as a framework.
- Write out the outline of the article. Add preliminary sourcing.
- As you expand the article, find further sourcing.
Most things that get sent to AfD do get deleted. I'm not saying I want to delete it, but that in order to be a 'good article' people will want to see more sourcing. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 15:29, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Question
First, let me rush to say I'm not AfDing the article yet although I did attempt to find any independent sources and was largely unsuccessful. That said, I actually have a query. I know that many of the messianics reject the J4Jers. But MBI is listed as being associated with J4J-UK here. So what gives? JoshuaZ 01:54, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Good question. On MBI's site it links to several other organizations that are counter to their own doctrine and principles. I really can't answer that question as I am surprised myself to see the link. And you might as well AfD the article, at least for quality purposes. It seems my first few stabs at creating new articles wasn't productive. It looks like I need to spend some in-depth time going over policies and procedures for Wiki before I go for full blown articles. Jamie Guinn 02:01, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Now that I think of it, I have noticed that many messianic groups link many other messianic groups even if they do differ in principles. It's odd, but that may be one of the additional differences between MJ and modern Christianity: the willingness to link with other groups, but that may be just because MJ groups don't have much weight on their own but provide the additional links to some way validate themselves. But your guess is just as good as mine. Jamie Guinn 02:06, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- Finally, definitive proof that Messianic Judaism isn't Judaism. If they were really being Jewish they wouldn't be willing to talk to each other! JoshuaZ 02:18, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- OK, joking aside if you think the article is that bad the you may want to mark it as {{db-author}} and have it deleted that way. Other than the lack of sourcing it looks fine to me. JoshuaZ 02:23, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- I don't necessarily want it deleted. Hey, it would be wonderful to see that one of the few articles I have done was considered okay enough to at least stick around, at least for future editing. Aside from the nasty comments from a few users, I have been challenged to do much better in my article writing. Who knows, maybe I will put up a really good article yet.
