[edit] Purposes
The purpose of a Meroka machine gun is to increase the chance of hitting the target, They may not fire at an extremely fast rate of fire so much but can however still compare. Meroka machine guns are mostly used as Anti-aircraft guns since it wont use a lot of rounds but still gives a chance of hitting the enemy aircraft.
The only true meroka firearms are the likes of the Nordenfelt Gun, Various Gardner guns, Pribor-3B Rifle and Project SALVO. Most 'Meroka' type weapons are standard GPMGs etc fixed on to multiple mounts, See Samaka for this type of configuration.
[edit] Popular Culture
As in reality, Meroka machine guns are seen in many WW2 movies as anti aircraft weapons.
- In the WW2 movie 633 Squadron, A three barreled Meroka machine gun is used by the Germans to shoot down Royal Air Force Mosquito fighter planes.
- In the videogame Duke Nukem 3D, One is used as a 'Chaingun cannon' to fight off enemies during gameplay.
