Meriden is a city in Cherokee County, Iowa, United States. The population was 184 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 184 people, 84 households, and 55 families residing in the city. The population density was 645.8/km² (1,660.9/mi²). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 315.9/km² (812.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White.
There were 84 households out of which 26.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 3.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 29.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.19 and the average family size was 2.71.
In the city the population was spread out with 19.0% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43 years. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.0 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $24,750, and the median income for a family was $33,393. Males had a median income of $25,000 versus $16,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,755. About 10.2% of families and 11.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.5% of those under the age of eighteen and 14.9% of those sixty five or over.
