[edit] Remodeling

The 400,000 square foot campus is undergoing a remodeling which will revamp the space to be "consistent with the educational and technological standards of the 21st century". The remodeling is being done by the firm of Buchart-Horn, with project management by the Whiting-Turner Company. The project will take approximately 30 months, and cost $23 million. The project will completely replace mechanical and electrical systems, and result in a safe, comfortable and visually pleasing environment, with a newly renewed interior and replacement of outdated equipment.

The school scenes in John Waters' 1988 film, Hairspray, were shot at Mervo.
