Mercyhurst Ice Center is a 1,500-seat hockey rink in Erie, Pennsylvania. It is home to the Mercyhurst College Lakers ice hockey teams, which compete in Division I (Atlantic Hockey for the men, College Hockey America for the women). It was opened on December 8, 1991. Funding for the arena came from a $56 increase in the annual student building assessment fee, which will be paid off by 2021. It was the first privately owned ice rink ever built in Erie. The building was the site of the 1995 ECAC West Playoffs and NCAA Division II Ice Hockey Championships. It has been the home of the women's ice hockey program since its inception in 1999. In addition to the Lakers, the arena also hosts local youth and high school hockey programs, as well as figure skating.
