[edit] Welcome

Hello, Mentaka, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Also, thanks for the desktop tip, but I don't like my desktop icons sorted alphabetically. --Snarius 01:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Larry Volk. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. - SpLoT / (talk) 14:38, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked

You have been temporarily blocked from editing because of your disruptive edits. You are invited to contribute in a constructive manner as soon as the block expires. —Pilotguy (push to talk) 19:32, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your nomination to delete POSIX

I removed your nomination to delete POSIX. This is clearly an encyclopedic topic; your nomination cannot reasonably be seen as a good faith nomination. Please do not abuse Wikipedia's deletion process for the purpose of disrupting Wikipedia. I believe you've been blocked for this, although not at my hand (as I am not an administrator); if you choose to continue editing after your block expires, I encourage you to edit productively instead of disruptively in the future. Kelly Martin (talk) 19:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding edits made during January 14, 2007 (UTC) to George W. Bush

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism and immediately reverted. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the work of others. Thank you. ShakingSpirittalk 01:19, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Good man! Now don't lose that attitude ;) ShakingSpirittalk 01:32, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Ubuntu Clearlooks.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Ubuntu Clearlooks.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:12, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your RfA

You may, perhaps, not fully understand what being an admin entails. To be one, you have to demonstate a deep understanding of all aspects of wikipedia policy, and a good skill at writing and editing articles. You also have to show a commitment to the various aspects of the project that admins are involved with. It is unusual to succeed in an RfA with less than 3,000 edits, including about 300 in Wikipedia and Wikipedia talk, and with less than six months experience. Blok warnings, blocks or vandalism lengthen the time needed to prove yourself. Your current application has no chance at all of succeeding, and I strongly urge you to withdraw it. Friendly comment - I am really trying to give you good advice here.--Anthony.bradbury 18:49, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

I regret to say that I have closed your RfA early as per WP:SNOW. I have included a summary of the opinions cast in my reason for doing so, which was essentially 'get some more experience before trying again'. You have been very brave in putting yourself in the spotlight here after so short a time of editing WP. Most people wait between six-to-twelve months before trying for an RfA and they are not alway successful either. Strategies for improving your profile for another RfA include:
  1. contributing effectively to articles. This includes finding references and citations for facts in reliable sources, something that is essential for an encyclopedia.
  2. Working on the Good Article Drive, Good Article Collaboration of the week and the Article Creation and Improvement Drive.
  3. Patrolling the New pages and Recent changes special pages for vandalism; tagging the pages according to the criteria for speedy deletion and warning the vandals.
  4. Reporting repeat vandals for admin intervention.
  5. Joining a Wikiproject or finding a portal on a subject in which you are interested and contributing through that.
  6. Assisting at the Help and Reference desks.
  7. Welcoming new users.
  8. Becoming adopted or, when you are more experienced, adopting new users to assist them in learning about Wikipedia.

These are just some of the ideas for making effective contributions to the project. You can also see Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for more ideas. Regards and good editing, (aeropagitica) 19:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit to User:Crazytales

This would be construed as vandalism. You have been here long enough to know this. Please consider this a warning — Lost(talk) 18:57, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Come on now. Having just had your RfA application terminated, what do you think you are achieving by vandalising another user's talk page? If/when you re-apply for admin status, you will have to explain this.--Anthony.bradbury 19:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Marking significant edits as "minor"

Please please do not do this -- you will find yourself quickly reverted! Sdedeo (tips) 17:24, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use images

I removed your image on your user page because: "Fair use images may be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages. They should be linked, not inlined, from talk pages when they are the topic of discussion. This is because it is the policy of the Wikimedia Foundation to allow an unfree image only if no free alternative exists and only if it significantly improves the article it is included on. All other uses, even if legal under the fair use clauses of copyright law, should be avoided to keep the use of unfree images to a minimum. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis if there is a broad consensus that doing so is necessary to the goal of creating a free encyclopedia (like the templates used as part of the Main Page)". [edit] another vandal warning

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to the Literary criticism page. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. -- Rbellin|Talk 00:54, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
