Mendoza College of Business
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Mendoza College of Business is one of the colleges at the University of Notre Dame, which is located in Notre Dame, Indiana of the United States. The college was founded in 1921 by a Holy Cross priest, John F. O'Hara. Mendoza currently offers undergraduate degrees in Accountancy, Finance and Business Economics, Management, Management of Information Systems and Marketing. At the post-graduate level, degrees offered are the Master's in Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accountancy and Master of Science in Administration (MSA), as well as various executive education courses.
The core philosophy of the Mendoza College can be found from Rev. O'Hara's understanding of commerce; "The primary function of commerce is service to mankind," and "Business has a code of ethics based very largely on divine principles. When this code is followed, commerce can and does advance civilization. When it is overlooked by selfish interests, individual or national, every sort of injustice, from petty thievery to world war, may result."
Today, the Mendoza College of Business is recognized as one of the world's premiere teaching-focused programs in business administration.
