Men's Recovery Project

Men's Recovery Project was a musical group formed by Born Against veterans Neil Burke and Sam McPheeters in 1993. The group split up in 2002 after Burke's asthma made touring impossible.

[edit] Formation

The group recorded seven 7" records (one split with H.G.C.), one 5" tour only record, and six LP/CDs (one split with Sinking Body). In 2005, Load Records and 5RC released a greatest hits album entitled "The Best of MRP" for the group.

MRP were known for their often extremely short and sometimes theatrical/performance art style sets. Sam McPheeters occasionally dressed as Patrick Henry while playing. The rest of the members sometimes wore masks, ladies lingerie, or performed naked. There is no doubt that they had a large influence on the late 1990s/early 2000s noise/so-called "Spockmorgue" (based on the Yahoo! Group of the same name) music scene.

[edit] Works

In 2000, the band made a conceptual album with tracks exclusively about the Middle East called "Bolides Over Basra."[1]

[edit] Other members and guest appearances

The ever-changing roster for Men's Recovery Project included members from such groups as Wrangler Brutes, The Locust, Thrones, Rah Bras, Le Tigre, and Six Finger Satellite.
