Talk:Melinda Gates
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wow, I thought she was just a piece of eye candy the world's richest man picked up. Turns out she has a brain and has used it and shares similar interests to Bill.
- Hardly! Hers was the 'brain' behind cringeworthy like Microsoft Bob.
- At her best I don't think Melinda was exactly arm/eye candy ;) ...their marriage definitely looks like a meeting of the minds....
- She is eye candy, the same type of eye candy Windows 95 which was released just after their marriage had. 220.233.48.200 11:05, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Does anyone know if she still works at Microsoft? Based on her list of positions I guess not but who knows?
What's wrong with you idiots?? MS Bob was an idea that didn't work, and I doubt that she was the ringleader for the whole thing. Anyway, she doesn't wear makeup - and she doesn't have to since she's uber rich. Of course she doesn't work at MS anymore - god you guys are dirtballs!
-
- I actually like the idea of Micorosft Bob a lot, it's a shame it wasn't more successful. --HideandLeek 08:39, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pic
The current pic sucks. There I said it.
- Now we have no pic :-( PureLegend 20:57, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
in the external link section of this article, there is a link to NNDB. is this a credible site? a quick preview of the site lists her "Race or Ethnicity" as "White" and "Sexual Orientation" as "Straight". this not only sounds unprofessional but also poor and inaccurate.
- Would you prefer "translucent" and "linear", or is that not PC enough? Really. "White" is pretty terrible, (so is 'black' for that matter), but "Caucasian" is laughable. Pick one, any one, they all offend *someone*.
A quick review of other biographies (Michael Dell, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet) in wikipedia don't seem to list NNDB as an external link.

I've removed the NNDB link. let me know if you object. 03:01, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Here is an idea. Find her high school, ask the studio that took her senior photo for copyright permission to produce a reduced resolution JPEG here... and voila. Brilliant, eh?
- ....sigh.
[edit] Roman Catholic?
Is there a source to back up the use of the Roman Catholic tag in the categories? Attendance at a Catholic schools is not necessarily indicative of religion. I tried Googling this, but I could only find others describing her as Catholic. --Westendgirl 22:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- Secondary sources are good. Primary are better, but if you were were 1/2 of 56 billion, would you allow your personal life to inhabit 'National Enquirer' or its ilk?
- Yeh, me neither. ;)
- Secondary sources- About.com is crap in itself, but aside from that personal bias they say that her family as Catholic, which is rather vague. RenewAmerica promises that Melinda is a Roman Catholic. Then there is a blog post which claims that Melinda is advocating condom distribution (a big Catholic no-no). Astrodatabank says they had a Roman Catholic ceremony when they got hitched. Annnnnd, a Gates Foundation data sheet shows a substantial gift to Catholic charities amongst a bunch of secular recipients.
- These show a trend toward at least nominal adherence to Roman Catholicism, but with some notable caveats. Onward, Wikipedia soldiers! Cite cite cite! And Thanks For All The Fish! 24.22.22.101 18:42, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
