Melvin Deontae Oliver (born on July 25, 1983 in Opelika, Alabama) is a NFL defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers. He went to Louisiana State University. He was drafted by the 49ers in the 6th round (197th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft.

In 2005, Oliver is a solid defensive end who, along with Kyle Williams, Claude Wroten and Chase Pittman, gave the Tigers one of the most dominant defensive fronts in college football. He played and started in all 13 games senior season. He led all Tiger defensive linemen with 67 tackles, nine sacks and 11 tackles for losses. The nine sacks tie for the seventh-highest single-season total in school history. He was named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance against the Arkansas. He capped his career with Tigers by being named Defensive MVP of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl after recording five tackles, including two tackles for losses and a sack in the 40-3 LSU win.
In 2004, he played in all 12 games with 10 starts. He recorded 36 tackles, five tackles for losses and one sack. He had best game of season against Ole Miss with seven tackles and one sack for an eight-yard loss, he also added two quarterback hurries against the Rebels. He was named LSU's Defensive MVP by the media at the Capital One Bowl after intercepting, a pass and returning it 27 yards in the first quarter.
In 2003, he played in all 14 games with one start. He made 31 tackles, four tackles for losses, four sacks, seven quarterback hurries and broke up three passes. He was part of the defensive linemen rotation for the Tigers. He started against Mississippi State in place of an injured Marquise Hill and registered 31 tackles and four sacks. He had an outstanding game in the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma, finishing with four tackles, one sack for a nine-yard loss and another tackle behind the line of scrimmage, he also broke up a pass in the 21-14 win over the Sooners. He collected two tackles and a sack of Eli Manning for a four-yard loss in win over Ole Miss.
In 2002, he was an impressive redshirt freshman who earned second team Freshman All-America by The Sporting News. He was also named to The Sporting News' Freshman All-SEC team. He led LSU and ranked among the SEC leaders with six sacks. The six sacks ranked second in LSU history among freshman for single-season sacks (Jarvis Green, now with the New England Patriots, holds the LSU freshman mark with eight in 1998). He played in all 13 games with no starts. He had 29 tackles including six for losses, all of which were sacks and added three quarterback hurries and one pass breakup. He capped rookie season with two tackles and a sack for a nine-yard loss against Texas, in the Cotton Bowl.

Oliver was an outstanding pass rusher that helped Opelika High School to an 11-2 overall mark. His squad was the No. 1 rated defense in Alabama and they ranked first in the state in points allowed per game. He registered 80 tackles, including 16 for losses and had 14 sacks with one fumble recovery. He made First-Team 6A All-State and All-District.

Oliver's parents are Melvin Watson and Belinda Martin. He has one brother, Carleton Watson. He majored in general studies.
Melvin also is the co-owner of Madeche. Madeche Vision is an interactive software due to launch September 2007.
