Melissa Wu is a fictional character of Flight 29 Down, She is played by Kristy Wu.

Melissa is of Asian descent who is a student at Hartwell School. Her best friend is Nathan McHugh, but is loyal to both him and his rival, Daley Marin.

Melissa is an optimistic person, who manages to find a good thing in a bad situation. She is a member of every major club at school. Melissa is an avid peacemaker and organizer at school and in the group.

While stranded on the island with nine other students from Hartwell, her loyalties are torn between Nathan and Daley.

Sometimes Melissa feels very meek and pushed around but at times has shown her own sense of leadership in major emergencies. Such, as when she saved Eric McGorrill from an allergic reaction to shellfish, even though he was blackmailing her with embarrassing information she had on her video diaries.

Since being on the island, she has developed a crush on Jackson. Her secret was released to the entire camp by Taylor and Eric, and she fell off a cliff which got her trapped on a ledge with Taylor. The two were later rescued, and Jackson and Melissa had agreed to keep their relationship platonic - as friends so everything would not be weird.

When Nathan and Jackson had an argument, she played peacekeeper between the two - to try to find reason for their actions.

Melissa's one of the few level-headed ones on the island, and is often overlooked as a beneficial member of the group. She is an avid peacemaker amongst the others, and is a little naive in her hope that everyone will "remain on the same page".

Even though Melissa is a selfless person, she cannot help but be a little selfish. She found Abby Fujimoto's necklace on the plane and wanted to keep it for herself, but Daley wanted it as well. When things got worse, as they found Abby dehydrated, they settled their differences. Melissa was immediately jealous of the attention that Abby was getting from Jackson. However, she and the other survivors made up and apologized.

Melissa was quick to defend Jackson and his actions in the past when everyone was concerned about what happened between him and a guy that got injured. She was practically the main reason he came back to the group.

Melissa remains Nathan's confidant about his feelings for Daley. Melissa had started telling lies to cover up Nathan's feelings for Daley when they started questioning what was going on between the two of them. She accidentally told them that Nathan was in love with Daley. She went to explain herself to Nathan and she was forgiven. Melissa took pity on Eric being punished for breaking the lighter, which was their only source of fire, and suggested that he should be the one to get the terrifying guilla monster out. As a matter of fact, it was easy for him since Eric had a pet iguana at home. This was something that Eric owed her for.

For her chilloween present, Melissa made drawings describing them. She became troubled when she thought something was going on between Jackson and Taylor. Daley confided in Melissa about her feelings for Nathan.

Melissa and taylor kissed because melissa got mad at taylor because she told everyone that melissa kissed a girl back home. melissa found out and when taylor was walking in the woods melissa came over and starded to hit her over and over and asked how come you like me!. Taylor starded to cry and said i do i like you more then you think. Melissa had a very weird feeling taylor told her that she had liked her for a long time.melissa said wow. Well if you can tell me your secret i guess i can tell you mine. Melissa said that she liked her to.Then thay started to hold hands and starded to kiss.At the time lex came to get some fruit and herd melissa and taylor talking and saw them kissing.
